Transfer Thread on 14:38 - Jul 11 with 3099 views | Griffting | Surely whatever the asking price is it will be 8 million pound less for us because of what man city owe? So if that is the case it would it not give us a bit more freedom with his wages? Much like the 'free transfers'. Could be completely wrong though.

That £8m is still Swansea City's money and a cost in doing the deal.

So say they set a 20 million pound price tag on him and the outstanding balance owed to us is 8 million (can't remember the exact amount still owed). If they sold to us would it likely be a deal worth 12 million and writing off the 8 million owed? And if they sold for 20 million to a team which was not us would they then have to pay the outstanding amount immediately or would the structured payment remain the same?

Transfer deals are a mess of accounting tricks these days but generally paying cash works out cheaper than paying on finance/in installements (Cazorla to Arsenal is one off the top of my head), and paying with money the selling club already owes you works out cheaper still (Glen Johnson and Portsmouth/Liverpool deals... Peter Crouch?) . So in that sense it's likely we would get a favourable deal in buying Bony compared to other clubs that Man City don't already owe. They might knock off a million quid for saving everyone some hassle and getting their debt off our books. Notably though in the above examples one side of each deal was in serious financial trouble, so money structured over time wasn't a big help. Man City are in no such difficulties. If the agreed price is £20m either way then it won't matter what section of the club accounts the figures move from, there's no appreciable difference in how it all irons out. A bit like Chris Coleman from many moons ago from the other Manchester club

I really doubt it. Reid wasn't even playing for United's u18s side until last season. Given the size of him you'd expect an immediate prospect to be playing ahead of his age level even at a club like United. He's one for the future. [Post edited 12 Jul 2016 12:26]

Meant to up arrow you but it down arrowed for some reason! I agree, surely Roberts will get some game time in friendlies to get a good look at him in terms of the first team. Hope he does well.

Is Connor Roberts any good then? Is he likely to make a first team breakthrough this season, like Kingsley & Barrow did last year?

Transfer Thread on 15:49 - Jul 12 with 2035 views | magicdaps10 | Leonardo Ulloa for 10M being mentioned..........NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Hope it is just paper talk, if it has legs then just smells of desperation by the club. When you hear that Boro are after Negredo then surely for a loan we should be after that type of player.

Didn't they use him like a super-sub last season, and I seem to recall that he scored against us too.

Scored six goals for them last season, two of them against us. 10M for someone who is 30 at the end of the month, cant see it and hopefully not true.
