Baroque counts as classical in my book.

You sure it's Backtrack? I got a railway services site. it sounds good though!

Sorry. Spellchecker strikes again. I meant railtrack.com, no, bachtrack.com.

Modern Classical piano music Ludovico Einaudi calming after another QPR disaster.

Following QPR seems like lunacy at the moment, so lets have a Debussy moment

Was gonna post Claire de lune - that one takes me places, such a brilliant piece

I think this one was in the apprentice and many other (shitty) shows & movies, but it does kick some ass

Another, almost comical & romantic at the same time - probably because how it was used in movies/shows

This one might be overplayed, but still like how it builds and builds and builds til it kicks ass.

EDIT: I guess I like ass kicking classical music

I'm far from an expert but I've gathered some favourite pieces over the years, and noticed that it's usually the voices that do it for me and female voices at that. This one always floors me.

Great thread, by the way, Metallica.

Is this classical? Modern classical? Either way, Thomas Newman can sure write music. That whole American Beauty soundtrack is absolutely fantastic - not to mention the movie, which is also one of my faves. If you have a decent hi-fi system, listen to the whole soundtrack, all that music will just just go through you. At least that's how I feel. Amazing stuff.

I really like that last one, never heard of him before. Gonna check out some more of his stuff, cheers!

yes I found him quite by chance - I think of his 'struggle for pleasure' as a theme for QPR

If want to explore lighter classical music, you might like Radio Suisse Classique, which you can get through Internet Radio Apps. Like Classic FM, they play single movements rather than the whole work, so if you don't like what's playing, there's something new on soon. Unlike Classic FM, there are no ads and a bare minimum of chat. The presentation is in French, but your phone will show you what's playing so its no problem following it up if you like it. They tend to play more chamber music (ie small groups of as few as a single piano and violin, or string quartets), rather than full orchestral pieces. Not so much my taste, but Mrs Sheen loves it.

I may just check that out, ta.

Did not expect to be getting into classical music this week, far less as a consequence of a LFW thread!
