so north korea are allegedly sitting off nuclear devices, testing them in defence against the american snake enemy.
experts doubt the claim that it was hydrogen, but whatever it was, it caused a 5.1 measure on the richter scale, so greater than kim hong-un's indigestion.
i have always been brought up told that n korea was a bad place with evil tyrannical leaders, but more recently, i seem to remember being told that n korea had ceases it's nuclear research and testing programme in exchange for lesser sanctions.
from conversations with people who know far more than i do, my uncle is claiming that the research is actually for and being funded by iran, and ultimately the american dollar as part of their deal to stop nuclear research and testing. so desperate for money, n korea does iran's dirty work away from prying eyes, and willing to boast about it too. this suits both parties, as iran continues with its work, but can deny any knowledge, and n korea benefits financially and has technology for itself to replicate.
all a great conspiracy theory, except that it's not really. iran seems willing to ratchet up the ante with saudi arabia over which denomination will rule the middle east and force its beliefs on others.
given that saudi funded pakistan and its nuclear developments, it is widely accepted that it has a ready supply of pakistani nuclear weapons, so if iran was to go head to head with saudi militarily, it would need more than it had for its terrible decade long war with iraq.
just concerned that this incident in north korea is just the tip of the iceberg that could have long lasting implications. i just hope that obama still has the ability to do something serious through the un to stop or at least kerb them.
that is if the nra don't get him first.

It's not what you've got; it's where you stick it.

Perhaps if I'd attributed my comments to, say, Peter Cook....?

I'm sure Mr Cook would have taken the opportunity to point out that marching is not democracy.

True. But I never mentioned marching. And, tbf, "No Marching Allowed" is pretty undemocratic, too.

(Nice picture of PC, don't you think? He looks sad that he still has to appear like the idiot from the 'Pete and Dud' sketches.)

I still wouldn't want to live in Ealing with this mob around. There is a certain Barber's shop that is right at the top of the list once they start launching!

What if America just said: 'OK - we give up. You win'. What then?

Surely they'd have a bit of a gloat, at which the rest of the world would duly laugh so hard they'd prolapse.

Mel Brooks is a hero of mine and he always said that the best way to deal with tyranny is to laugh at it. It robs them of their one controlling power: fear.

And so...

'What do we want? We don't know! When do we want it? Now!'

... although there's a big difference between laughing at someone 35 years after they've topped themselves, versus laughing in the (chubby) face of living nutters with (potential) WMDs?
It's probably fortunate that Mel Brooks isn't in charge of any national defense organisation.

isn't this the new core defence for labour under jeremy corbyn?
just laugh at the enemy, poke your tongue out at them and hope they just go away?
i accept that trident is probably redundant now, but we do still need to have a defence force of some description.
just commenting 'i say' and 'would you like milk with your tea' will not stop the enemy. of this i am pretty sure.

edit: i hear he has upgraded our weapons defence systems to include cucumber sandwiches and pimms.
