People go on about us making 10 changes. Steve Bruce made 10 changes compared to his last game. It was meant to be 9 but Alex Bruce was injured in the warm up.

That's not particularly relevant though. Our first team would have stood a far better chance of getting a result irrespective of the side Hull put out. Mind you, if we'd put our first team out tonight and then come the weekend loose 2-0 and look knackered, everyone would be moaning about that. It's one of those ones where Garry's could be damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

Exactly it's what managers of every club say then send out a weakened team.

Out of curiosity is there anyone that disagrees with what I've just said?

Not me.

No goals scored in 3 games now and the next 2 looking quite formidable opponents, the days of being jaded are over in my book. The last think I want to see is Mane pulling us all over the pitch on Saturday and us looking like we were sleep walking big big game for Monk and the players, even though its early season the chips are well and truly down now.

for 10 not so good.

I dunno. Was rather hoping we'd give the cups a good go this year. Tonight we haven't, and that's disappointing.

You need a bit of luck in one off cup ties, it wasn't to be. If you see the highlights I don't think anyone can say we didn't give it a pretty serious lash.

Suspect we'd have had more luck with a first choice XI though. And why wouldn't we try? Just think it's a missed opportunity

Have to agree would have preferred to see a few more regulars through the team at the start

My hope is that we want the FA Cup more

Yes, I hope we want the FA Cup more too but which of the 2 cup competitions was the more winnable? Don't think the big teams are all that interested in the COC so that means the eventual winners are likely to come from our level, the mid-table Prem teams, so we would probably have been amongst the 4 or 5 favourites for this one. Having said that, Man City's team had some of their biggest names last night so maybe they do want to win it.

I don't disagree with you, but think of this. If we had put a strong team and won convincingly and then lost against Southampton, we would be saying why didn't we rest players in midweek. A big performance is required by the team on saturday to justify Monk's decision.

If there's one thing I think when I look at us in 7th place in the Premier League, it's that the chips are well and truly down.

You know, Hobbes, some days even my lucky rocket ship underpants don't help.

Man City look to be taking it seriously yes

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

You may have but I wouldn't have. We're not going to win the league sadly, and we're not dropping out of the basement. What else is the point but to try and win something?

Edit - Agree a big performance is needed on Saturday before a slump becomes a problem. The good news is that I'll be there and we always do well when I go to away games.

gutted we didnt win last night but league is far more important for me, so yes this saturday we will see if Monk made the right decision or not.

its that FA Cup we have to take seriously.

league cup = already achieved.

lets concentrate on the league and a good FA Cup run.

My methods are not favoured by some but by god i speak the truth.

Cups are heavily down to luck me old fruit.

I'm far more interested in seeing where we are and how we're progressing after 15 games. 20-23 points and the Ayew/Sig/Ki conundrums sorted and we could really push on.

I'd say they are more down to whos the better team rather than luck, although there is always that element.

Wigan were better than Man C? Birmingham were better than Arsenal? Hull were better than us? Not even on the day. Even Bruce knew how spawny they'd been. Yes of course a better team is desirable but buck plays a massive part in a one off game...are we better than Chelsea? Or did Ivanovic make two out of character (that season anyway) massive f ups and the officials wipe out a penalty and a goal that 8 times out of 10 would have been given at Stamford Bridge.

Any game has an element of luck, but in the cup, if you get a poor roll of the dice in the draw or in any one game you've not only lost, you're out. What if we get ManC away in the third round? Or if we get the Cardiff route. Utter luck.
