“We want a front-line that can rotate, that can be progressive and Jamie ticks those boxes. He can come and get it, go in behind, run the channels — he’s got great versatility."
This quote from Les is very encouraging. It's been interesting to see us sign four players now that don't quite best fit into a 4-4-2 - it maybe suggests Ramsey had us playing static lines and limited football last season not because he thought it was great but because (as some argued) he felt we just didn't have the options to do so.
Then again though it would be classic Rangers indeed to sign a bunch players who are talented and individualistic (or sentimental workhorses) and then put out a bodge job shambles of a team mumbling something weakly about versatility. We'll see...

definite' no' heart never in question but no skill we should be looking forward with youth and potential the main criteria not looking back dreaming of former favourites through rose-tinted glasses

Our other four signings have all been youth and potential.

Right, I've bitten my lip for long enough about this. I've had it. It's RANT TIME! All this stuff about 'no skill' is an absolute nonsense. No, he may not have the skill of Taarabt, or the ability to caress a ball like Ale or... oh now, wait, I've run out of players we've had over the last few years with an immaculate first touch... but to suggest he has no skill or, in Essex's words, 'can't trap a bag of cement' is utter, utter garbage. Just watch this. Watch the goals - and yes I'm aware he doesn't do this every week and he does make mistakes, but if you're going to make sweeping generalisations, so can I.
Watch the goal v Derby. Watch how he brings it down and then takes two absolutely perfect touches to send defenders the wrong way before slamming an unstoppable shot right in the corner. Watch the Leicester goal, watch how he sends the entire defence packing before a cool, precise finish from a tough angle. And watch his Liverpool winner, when, under immense pressure, he simply glided in and guided it under Reina's body?
No skill? No skill? Can't trap a ball? What utter, utter crap.
Oh no, wait, I'm sorry - our front three these days is Messi, Neymar and Suarez. Yes, compared to them you could say he has no skill.
But that's not our front three is it? We're in the Championship in England and we have signed a player who averages about a goal every 4 or 5 games. A player desperate to play for us. A player who we know can galvanise a team, who can create something from nothing and will never, ever give up. I'll take him any freaking day of the week.
MASSIVE RANT OVER.
Bare bones.

let's just make sure we practise corners because Mackie tends to win a lot of them after failing to cross or actually beat the defender
