Etymologically, the "synergy" term was first used around 1600, deriving from the Greek word “synergos”, which means “to work together” or “to cooperate”. If during this period the synergy concept was mainly used in the theological field (describing “the cooperation of human effort with divine will”), in the 19th and 20th centuries, "synergy" was promoted in physics and biochemistry, being implemented in the study of the open economic systems only in the 1960 and 1970s.
Its a BRILLIANT goal to cap a BRILLIANT start by Rochdale - Don Goodman 26/08/10
He's right in what he says but synergy is by definition pretty much the cornerstone of team based participation. He could have just said it was a good team performance and left it there. That being said, he often tries to make himself sound intelligent and fails miserably.

Just wondered whether it was use of the word synergy that was grinding your gears, or summat more general
Ahh, no it's the use of the word and others like it....Or rather the theme at the moment of using trendy language to appear more enlightened than the rest of us. You can see that Hilly has been to the same fookin seminars that Flicker has attended as he is a master at using this rubbish....Another one is "Moving Forward" That has crept in everywhere you look these days....It's like listening to David Brent at his best....Rant over now..

Agreed.
And moving forward, such phrases should be put firmly in the synergy bin.

Perhaps we should call their ground Riddle Lane from now on!
As I implied in another thread I can hardly bear to listen to Hill being interviewed. I would prefer not to hear him speak, it makes me cringe. Still, I do admire his management skills.

I like Keith Hill's interviews, to say he routinely gets the mike shoved in his face a couple times week I find they aren't bland and goes for his honest approach. Most times his views align himself with the fans take on a game, which is great! sometimes hearing other managers waffle after a game I think 'kinell were you watching the same match?

Keith always used 'clever' words in his interviews here. But then he'd pronounce John Stones as 'John Stone' or Jay McEveley as 'Jay Maccavelli'. He added humour though. Never a dull interview with him. And he could never resist digging out the supporters. It's the way he is.
Flicker, being his protege has clearly copied him to some degree, only he sounds a lot worse because he gets carried away with himself. I'll never forget him saying 'combatative'. Again, if you're trying to sound clever, you need to be clever.
Danny and Mark Robins were quite dull in comparison, giving the same interviews every week. You could second guess them.
I have to say that so far, Lee Johnson too uses a lot of modern 'management speak'. But he's clever. A fantastic orator. But talking is oreight, it's the walking that counts.

Has he said "Milky Way Stars" yet?
When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?
