Has our start hoodwinked a lot of people? 10:08 - Feb 13 with 40712 viewsParlay

For me, we have simply been dining out on our first 3 games all season, which tricked a lot of people into thinking we are actually playing well.

Some startling facts....

We got MORE than 25% of our season points in those first 3 games alone.

In the rest of them we have barely been getting over a point a game - and that was with Bony in the side for the majority of the time.

We will be heavy underdogs in the next 3 of 4 games and I dont see a win coming in any of them.

If this slide isnt addressed soon, we may not have the luxury of hitting the ground running next term and then we are in a whole world of trouble if the performances remain at this level. We will barely hit 38 points.

Absolutely. One of the most important and influential fans we have and I don't need a title or "position" to convince anybody.

I'm not entering the madhouse on this one, but maybe you could explain to Phil what you've ever influenced. In tangible concrete terms obviously...being our most important and influential fan. Then I'm sure he'd agree.

This is what Parlay does.. he's actively created specific notepad 'topics'..

Business... he's actually picked out the 'key' details of the 'outskirts' of business conduction.
Religion.. the same
Politics.. the same
Football..the same
Constructive English language..the same
Upper Class demeanour.. effectively 'tones' his writing style
And many more..

But he always 'leaves' a 'get out' clause in his illustrious paragraphs
He's almost 'robotic' in explaining topics
But his biggest undoing is the 'grey area'.. when you can actively see his facts are skewed.. because he hasn't 'looked up' this area in his 'topic' section..

This is why he hasn't got that 'extra' nous.. he's a con man.. and a fraud.

Ah nice, back to this again.

Whats a notepad topic?

What is business conduction?

Where are my illustrious paragraphs?

What facts are skewed?

How am I a con-man?

How am I a fraud?

Don't let yourself down and answer the above fully please.

Cheers skip.

I do seriously worry about your mental well being mind, even though I've never met you, it is a concern. I mean there's 'banter' and then there's this persona and approach you take on forums. I'm really not being patronising when I say you should seek some support.

My goal is not to get him to agree, why would I want him to agree? it is just simply a fact. It grates with people, my views have a whole load of clout. They are not offensive or shocking in the slightest yet generate thousands of views and replies of all natures. My views are the seed to great talking points that then become fan and club agendas. I highly suspect more and more people will now be realising that match tickets are way too expensive for example and will be faced with an option whether to act on it or not. Influence is to get people thinking, and i do that in bucket loads.

I'd like to point out that our resident forum gnat has made close to 50 posts on this thread alone. Not to mention the questionable alternative aliases.

Seriously worrying. He's like the guy who's first in the pub, sits at the bar all day looking for someone to socialise with, before inevitably getting booted out at closing time, until his return the next day.

Oooh name calling again? Surely not?

Of course I am making many posts. If Ghandi came back to life and walked into a crowded hall, who would answer the most questions? Ghandi or Joe Bloggs in the crowd? Does that mean you should worry for Ghandi? Or just realise that his presence makes him center of everybodies attention and he will be speaking more than anybody else because he has to answer everybodies questions.

Which is why your analogy is terrible. Am I asking these people to talk to me? No. They are talking to me because of the draw to the username.

Maybe I should point out that every C_Jack response to a thread I am involved in is pure anger and annoyance. How anybody can be that annoyed over someone on the internet who is not offensive or provoking in the slightest is a concern.

But thats just me.

Like this post you're correct.. but Garry did get those 3 wins.. so I believe he's earned the right and respect that he deserves.. he has had injury troubles.. and his nativity in his selections are becoming more clear.. but he deserves a chance to rectify his mistakes.

Not anger and annoyance, pity, sorrow and concern. Your time is committed to the borders of this reply box, whether as a means of release or diversion from other issues, I don't know.

You can send myself or anyone else a PM and we'll be more than happy to share your concerns/point you in the direction of more professional help. I can understand that someone of your self regard is too proud to admit such, but the offer is there.

More clean sheets and points than at this stage of any other PL season, ffs the wool really is being pulled over our eyes.

Conversely are people being hoodwinked by our recent poor form (I mean let's forget we actually beat Sourhampton at theirs the other week - we were so shit that doesn't really count right?)? Are we forgetting the good start and following good results we've had this season and focussing on the negatives?

I bet the Cardiff board is more positive than here right now and they're shit.

Desperate tactic? I think that's the issue here, you've been programmed with a high setting of paranoia to think that everyone is after you, and looking to stab you in the back. This forum has been incredible in regards to support for many people's "offline" issues in the past, please don't be afraid to share any concerns, just because it might damage this 'persona' you have developed for yourself on here.

II think the only one who should log off (or pm somebody on here if you can't do that) and just talk to somebody, anyone, about what's really disturbing them, is you.

Good day.

How have you discredited Monk in that OP? Jesus Christ.. you've basically stated the season has been a disaster and Monk shouldn't be the man to take us forward..

This is how you actively contradict yourself.. then use the 'get out' clause.. where have I discredited Garry.. that's your 'get out' clause.. going around the edges of his current management.. then saying where have I discredited him.. I don't think Garry has hoodwinked anybody.

So do you think we are playing above ourselves?

Nobody is suggesting that the wool is being pulled over anybodies eyes. What is being suggested is that the table which is heavily weighted towards a patch of form 6 months ago is currently making people think that we are doing ok and playing well.

Your response suggests so in terms of your clean sheet and point argument.

As a whole Monk can say he has done what he needed to do, stabilised the club and done it well. However as the second part of the Titanic showed, once the part broke off, once it stabilises for too long it starts to sink.

The point was directed at the fact we have started to sink.

No, you aren't answering my questions Skippy. You are taking my questions - changing them - and then answering that.

My question is where have I discredited Monk for those 3 wins? That is what you said right?

But no, you are right, I don't think Monk is the right man to take us forward.... But that isn't discrediting the good he's done - which is what you levelled at me remember? Or indeed acting as a get out, there is no get out - it is just simply my opinion clearly stated in the OP.

So you have decided to answer none of the questions I put to you then?

Interesting way to back a point I guess.

What people would they be then?

Sixpences? T2C? Your aliases?

There are less people using this forum because people don't enjoy posting anymore. I am one of those people who frequently can't be bothered to join in anymore. It's much easier to just let people crack on with their boring and circular arguments, sensationalist and hysterical rants and hyper scrutiny of everything our manager or board members utter.

If you think that any other fans, especially the trust members or representatives are frightened of the few hundred posts you've made on an internet message-board, you really have a stunning lack of self awareness.

Ah I see the mask has slipped.

No, I wasn't referring to the fantasy aliases, T2C or indeed sixpences. I was referring to a general influence over viewers and readers of the board as a whole. Not just contributors, although i have various PM's thanking me for various posts I have made.

I absolutely think my presence makes people nervous, whether that be board, trust or normal folk with a one sided view. I could quite easily say that you have a lack of understanding of social awareness by not recognising that - but then again I would be responding to an argument you started that is the cause for people not enjoying it anymore. Thats irony for you isn't it.

I have simply posted my thoughts here and look at the reaction, people falling over themselves to discredit me... And the usual suspects. Now read the OP and see if the responses marry up.

Oh for the love of God....

If ANYONE else had started this thread, we may have stood a chance of having a decent discussion.

As soon as the flock of sheep see the name Parlay, they try every trick in the book to turn it into a bitchfest. I would say bar room brawl but it's really not in that league.

Is it any wonder he sees himself as the forum celebrity? The little gang all pull out the a name calling, the Oz connection blah blah blah. Tedious to the extreme. No other poster gets this sort of attention.

I have read this forum for a long time. I am a Swansea fan and have been for the past 40 years. That said, I don't pretend to be as knowledgable as most of you. I just want my local team to do well. I cannot afford a ST but am a fan nonetheless. I enjoy reading your opinions, your analysis and even your differences of opinion. I have learned a lot. Everyone has a right to say how they feel. Please, can we stick to the topic and not make the discussion about the poster? Some of us are actually interested in watching the discussion develop.

Parlay, to answer your original post...I think the word "hoodwink" is out of place. I would prefer to use the term "setting our expectations". Gary Monk was like a breath of fresh air ..for the fans, the club and the players. I remember during his first game as caretaker seeing the passion he displayed from the sidelines. Passion which we rarely saw from ML. Different personality maybe but we could all see Gary was a Swans man through and through. He was what was needed.

He has done so much in his first role and I would love to see him take us from strength to strength. Sadly, this hasn't happened and I think the concerns many have are understandable and I share them.

My first lengthy post. I have been a woman of few words until now but can't bite my tongue any longer :)
