In Huw We Should Trust 21:33 - Feb 4 with 4443 viewsJack_The_Groove

Right. I haven't posted on here for many a year but felt the need to make my forum comeback in the light of the hysteria on here tonight.

Lets please get things into perspective. Yes, it has been great being managed by a true legend of the game and yes, he's done great work for this club - winning us our first major trophy and attracting big name signings.

But let's also remember that this club wouldn't be anywhere near the PL nor be in the good financial shape it's in if it wasn't for the skills of Huw Jenkins. This is a man who has personally masterminded our rise from zeros to heroes. And a man who has diligently handpicked not one, not two but three fantastic managers, each of whom have taken the club further forward each time.

This is also a man who is local and cares passionately about the club. He would never rip the soul out of the club with rebrands or bankrupt the club by poor financial management.

The bottom line is that Laudrup would have been off at the end of the season regardless. The other stark fact is that we've only won 7 out of our last 33 PL games.

Against West Ham in his post match interview he looked disinterested and frankly
unconcerned about our defeat.

OK I concede he may have reasons for griping as he wasn't given what he wanted in the January transfer window but at the end of the day he has still assembled a squad that is well capable of staying in the PL - and if doesn't want to give 100 per cent commitment to the job, then the time is right to let him go and bring fresh faces in.

Huw, I am sure, has thought long and hard about this and so far has, on the whole, shown great gut instincts in terms of our managers.

Instead of bleating, disappointed fans should accept this decision has been made for the right reasons. Those making the decisions don't want the club to fail - they want success, as we all do. They could see things were on the slide and so have made a decision before it's too late.

I trust the chairman to get this right and you should do too.

Oh and to all the crowing Cardiff City fans - well you are just embarrassing yourselves if you think a simple change of manager even remotely compares to the woes being inflicted on your club at the moment.

You keep enjoy playing in red, with no soul, no identity, bickering fans, unhappy players, financial uncertainty and a megalomaniac chairman - and we'll keep doing what we do best. Playing great football under the auspices of a local chairman, a fans trust and legends like Curtis and Monk who genuinely love the club.

Swansea will be fine - as we have been for the last 10 years. The building blocks are firmly in place and I for one am looking forward to the next exciting chapter...

I no longer trust Huw Jenkins one little bit.

He's been a liar for the past week, saying that there was no truth in any of the rumours - he could have just refused to comment.

Now he's sacked a good manager who is also a decent man four days before our most important match of our season. Good luck trying to get Michu and the other players motivated, because Garry Monk screaming at them probably won't do it.

I remember Jenkins standing up at a meeting and criticising Brendan Rodgers for breaking a contract, and now he's done exactly the same thing.

Perhaps it was in the clubs best interests that they didn't confirm that they were planning on ousting ML to the media? What good would that have done seriously?
There are contractual issues for one and also why would they want to stir up more controversy, seems moronic

Huw has not covered himself in glory in this (as I see it from the outside), but I will back his judgement in the sacking of ML and appointment of Monk

My one concern is this - if Monk's reign goes tIts up, and does so quickly in the next 3/4 games, what the fck is the next plan then? Then we are in the sht.

Oh,..Dave, what's occuring?

Great post sir!

Every day I thank the good Lord for the blessings he gives me. Every new day gives me a new opportunity to laugh at the red chumps up the road.

I'd be more worried if Huw had quit. Anyone slagging him off for all the work he and the board have done over the last ten years should really have a think about it. Monk isn't on his own with this appointment and this should hopefully return some fighting spirit to the team.

I've always thought that given their track record, any doubt should be read in favour of the board. They deserve that much.

Totally agree with your excellent posting, Jack_The_Groove. Proud as hell to have had someone with the stature of ML as manager, but the fact is that he seems to have lost (even if he had it in the first place) of motivating the players. The sloppy and passionless 90 minutes at Upton Park was, quite frankly, embarrasing. We have some great players at Swansea this season, but they will only play to their best if handled correctly, and ML seems not to be able to do this. Under him, I feel certain that we would have lost against Cardiff on Saturday. We may yet, but one thing is for sure, under Monk and Curt, there will be no lack of passion in the dressing room and the dugout. Now the Swans fans must be at their best, too. Wear some black, wear some white and shout and sing your hearts out on Saturday!

Got to say after the comments he made yesterday I can't believe anything HJ has to say.
If this has been planned then he has lied in official statements from the club and no matter what he has down for the club that can not be in our best interests.
If things came to a head today -fair enough.

Sorry but, er, no. One can't simply blab to the cameras that they are 'thinking of sacking the manager'.

As for ML being a 'a decent man', I take it you are on personal terms with the chap? If you are, perhaps you could ask why he himself is not on personal terms with his own players?

Breaking a contract? We have been dead in the water for ten months. I'd rather break a contract than go down with less fight than an Italian tank battalion.

The statement seems to suggest it was decided today...

That doesn't make it true though

A lot of people will be thinking that monk is only a stop-gap and that plans are in place (or being worked on) for the longer term replacement.

Or maybe Gary will get off to a flyer (crossing fingers here).

Monday: "Club chairman Huw Jenkins has rejected reports that Laudrup's position is under discussion. "I haven't heard anything in reference to Michael and neither have we met, or discussed, or done anything about Michael," said Jenkins.

"A couple of us did actually meet up on Sunday morning to have a cup of coffee like we normally do. That's as simple as it was. That's where the first rumour came from. "It's difficult for me to say anything because there isn't anything to discuss."

Tuesday: Laudrup is sacked.

I don't believe any decent employer would sack someone without thinking about it for a few days.

Never heard of the dreaded board's vote of confidence? How naive can people be if they think the club is going to announce it's intentions of sacking someone before the fact?

I'd expect him to have said that the club was in a crisis and that they would hold talks with Laudrup to discuss the situation - exactly how would being straight with the supporters have made the situation any different or worse? That's a serious question, by the way.

What if they then decided not to sack him? Makes his position a little uncomfortable to say the least.

The board and Huw have had a bit of a dodgy year all things considered, and there have been slightly worrying signs that Huw has been acting outside his remit recently, however there's a lot we don't know, and Huw and the board have been nigh on impeccable for the last 10 years, the next appointment is crucial and could restore a lot of faith.
