Stats

Singh Gill is part of a refereeing family that also includes his father Jarnail Singh and brother Bhupinder Singh Gill.

Gill started out in the EFL in 2022/23 with 121 yellows and three reds in 31 appointments, topped out with eight yellows at Colchester 0-1 Northampton in League One. He’s been one of the fast tracked officials since then with a first Championship game coming in November last year at Huddersfield 0-0 Watford, and a Premier League debut following on March 9 at Palace 1-1 Luton. In so doing he became the first ever British Asian referee in the Premier League.

A season that ended with Doncaster’s home defeat to Crewe in the League Two play-off semi-final included a chunky 48 games with 183 yellows (3.8) and six reds, led by ten yellows at Lincoln’s 2-0 home defeat to Portsmouth in the final round of fixtures.

So far this season he’s had four games, two in the League Cup, Bristol City’s 4-3 home win against Millwall in the Championship and Birmingham’s 2-1 home win against Wigan in League One.
