No Pompey parade - but Southsea Common will see plenty of celebration

Pompey have had some memorable celebrations on Southsea Common since the turn of the century - and more such memories will be made on Sunday afternoon.

That's when fans will be able to congregate to pay homage to the League One champions, and to their Women's National League Southern Premier champions.

Both title-winning squads will be on stage around 2pm on Sunday as the centrepiece of an afternoon of celebration.

Pompey will celebrate a double title triumph with an event at Southsea Common on Sunday.

The club said: 'The occasion will see fans, club officials and players from the men’s and women’s teams come together to mark a memorable campaign. The festivities will include live entertainment from 1pm until 4pm, with players expected on stage from around 2pm after travelling directly to the event.'

Pompey chief executive Andrew Cullen told the club website: 'We are looking forward to seeing plenty of supporters on Southsea Common for what is sure to be an unforgettable afternoon.

'It provides a fantastic opportunity to celebrate what has been an amazing season for both the men’s and women’s teams. And the event also allows us to thank our outstanding supporters for the superb backing they have provided to our players – and to us all.

'We are extremely grateful to Portsmouth City Council, the police and the emergency services for their support of the event.'

The club added: 'Fans are advised there will be no parade, and to walk or use public transport to get to and from Southsea Common. BBQs will not be permitted. Food will be available to purchase on the day, while an unreserved accessible platform is being erected.'
