It galvanises us - I'm sure we'll cope with it - Marlon Pack on a key factor affecting Pompey

Marlon Pack says Pompey's injury woes have helped bring the squad together and motivate them as they go about trying to secure promotion.

The Blues have suffered a series of serious injuries to key players all campaign, with Regan Poole, Alex Robertson, Tom Lowery, Joe Morrell, Tino Anjorin and Connor Ogilvie among those to suffer rotten luck and long spells on the sidelines.

Ogilvie is now out for at least three weeks and after Callum Lang and Jack Sparkes came off injured in the 0-0 draw at Blackpool, which has kept Pompey six points clear at the top, Pack addressed the issue.

Pack told the club media: 'It’s how it’s been all season, but it galvanises us and I think you’ve seen how together we’ve been all season. There’s a real alignment throughout the club and although it’s not ideal, I’m sure we’ll cope and deal with it.'

The skipper had mixed feelings about the point Pompey took away from Bloomfield Road.

He told the website: 'Before the game a point doesn’t look a bad result, but in the circumstances, we’re kicking ourselves a little bit. They had 10 men for 50 minutes or so and it feels like a missed opportunity – we hit the post three times and were an inch away from getting that winning goal.

'We’d started to take a grip on things just before the red card and looked like the side I know we’re capable of. We were a bit sloppy before that and let ourselves down, but it actually becomes harder when they go down to 10 men.

'Blackpool’s game-plan takes care of itself and you have to break down a team with 10 men behind the ball, playing a low block. So you need to be patient, which we were at times. When we did show some penetration, we created a few chances.'
