Pompey's newest recruit likes a finish - and wants season to end in promotion

Loan signing Abu Kamara says he feels his Pompey move is the natural next step in his career - and he is dreaming of helping the Blues to promotion.

The teenager has joined on loan from Norwich, where he impressed for the Under-21s last season and forced his way into the first team for a number of Championship appearances.

Kamara is John Mousinho's 11th signing of the summer and he told the Pompey website: 'It’s great and feels like this was needed in my career – to get regular game time and test myself against men. I had a Zoom call with the manager and sporting director – everything they said just appealed to me. It was a no-brainer.

'I’m expecting to be a better player when I come out of this spell, having worked on my all-round game and learnt from a few of the lads here. There will be a physical challenge after coming out of under-21s football, but I believe I’m good enough to do that.

'I like getting on the ball and also running in behind to finish off chances. I’m a composed player in front of goal and good in 1v1 situations. Honestly, I want to get a promotion medal and feel like Pompey is the right club to be at in order to get that.'

Kamara was at Norwich from the age of 10 and said making his first team debut was a dream come true.
