Southampton Linked With Third Deadline Day Striker

After the news that Saints have report ably have had bids accepted for both Braga Striker Vitinha and Moussa Dembele from Lyon, it seems we are hedging our bets a little and also upping our bid for Genk's Paul Onuachu.

It seems that Saints are determined to land a striker and have seemingly 3 on their radar, the latest being Paul Onuachu from Begium club Genk.

The centre forward has links to Rasmus Ankersen of Sport Republic having played for FC Midtjylland in Demark between 2012 and 2019 before heading to Genk

Saints have allegedly made a previous offer but an improved offer has gone in for the 28-year-old, according to Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws.

Onuachu will turn 29 in May and has considerable experience, Genk are chasing a League title, but a move to the Premier League is his dream move and he may well want to take up the offer, he will be into the last year of his contract in the summer so Genk may want to cash in.

He has been in fine form this season scoring 16 goals in the Jupilo League in just 19 games , for a grand total of 73 goals in just 103 League games, standing at around 6ft 5 inches he would offer an attacking aerial threat not currently available in the current squad and certainly the best stats of the three we have been linked with on deadline day.

Onauchu was an 89th minute substitute when Midtjylland drew 1-1 at St mary's in the Europa League in 2015.
