Pompey want Premier League side next - Liverpool will suit Naylor

Pompey's manager and captain both want the Blues to be paired with Premier League opposition in the third round of the FA Cup - and the latter knows exactly where he wants to go.

Naylor scored his third goal in five games as Pompey beat Ling's Lynn 6-1 to advance to round three at Fratton Park.

He said: 'I’ll take Liverpool away. I’m a fan, so it would be nice to play at Anfield, even if there are no supporters allowed to attend.'

In fact, as things stand, Liverpool and Portsmouth are both in tier two for Covid restrictions so in theory should be allowed a crowd of 2,000 if drawn at home in the next round of the Cup.

Boss Kenny Jackett was taking a similar view after watching his side put in a dominant performance to end the National League team's hopes of an upset.

He told the website: 'You want a Premier League team if you get to the third round and it’s always a big thing — home or away.'

Naylor was pleased with the display against the Linnets, saying: 'It was a professional performance overall and that’s something we spoke about before the game because we knew King’s Lynn would put up a fight.

'There were stages of the match when they made it difficult for us, but we overcame that and showed what we’re capable of.'

Rasmus Nicolaisen, Sean Raggett, Marcus Harness, Ellis Harrison (penalty) and Jordy Hiwula were also on target in the win over Lynn.
