James Tips Swans For Away Day Haul

Former Swans star Leighton James says the Swans will pick up nine points on their travels next week

James believes that the Swans can beat Northampton, Bristol Rovers and Southend next week to secure a maximum away haul which would put them even more in the driving seat for League One glory than it does now.

Via his column in the Evening Post, James says "Northampton is the first test with Bristol Rovers and Southend to follow.

"The Northampton game could see Bayo Akinfenwa facing his old club. I have always thought that letting Bayo go was a big mistake.

"He knows where the goals are and I thought he would have made a good partnership with Jason Scotland.

"Let's hope the ex-Swansea curse doesn't strike again as it did with Willy Gueret and Kenny Jackett.

"The Bristol Rovers game is tricky, particularly because of the pitch - or cabbage patch as I call it. At professional level it is not acceptable, but Swansea have to deal with it.

"It's a local derby of some sorts and Roberto will need to evaluate all of his options for this game.

"You are caught between the devil and the deep blue sea - if the pitch is dry and bobbly, you can't play football.

"If it's wet and boggy, you can't play football.

"Good teams have to adjust to different tactics sometimes and Swansea have already shown that this season.

"They are capable of getting at least six points from the three away games, but I think - with the quality of the squad - they will take all nine."

James also jumped on the don't panic statements by saying "Some fans across Swansea have been reaching for the panic button, but fear not, Roberto Martinez will lead them to the title."

And I am sure there isn't a Swansea fan out there who would want him to be wrong on this occasion.
