Another Big Premier League Weekend For Southampton
Wednesday, 6th Nov 2024 09:12

The win against Everton was massive last Saturday, it has made sure that Saints haven't been cast adrift at the bottom and the relegation battle stands between 7 clubs still, but we are still reliant on results elsewhere, so where we be looking to this weekend.

First game up on Saturday on our radar is Crystal Palace V Fulham, if the Eagles lose and we can win at Wolves then we will draw level with them, although we will need a turnaround of 7 goal difference to go above them.

Also on Saturday is a big battle between West Ham and Everton, a draw would be best here as a win either way would be a big step for either club out of the dogfight at the bottom.

On Sunday Leicester got to Manchester United, if the Red Devils were to lose the Foxes would go above them, but let's be blunt, no matter how much praying we do Manchester United will not get relegated, however Leicester might, so we need a home win here.

Last game of the weekend on our radar is Tottenham Hotspur V Ipswich Town and sad as it is to say, we want only one result here and that is an emphatic Spurs win.

Of course we have to win our games, but in any battle whether it is at the top or the bottom of the table, you need your rivals to drop points and hopefully they all will over the weekend.

If we can do our job at Wolves though, it will send a big message to the relegation battlers, that things have changed at St Mary's and we are ready to move up the league, for the other clubs, they are in the fight and nothing has changed, for us things have changed a little and that means we can finally move forward.

"so where we be looking to this weekend.?"

I respectfully suggest that the ONLY place we should be looking this weekend is Wolves! If we start winning matches we will not have to constantly worry about the performance of other teams. If you want to worry about something perhaps we should just worry about where on earth the goals are going to come from?

Hope our manager uses common sense in his selections and starts Sugawara and possibly Sulemana who at least pose some attacking threat but I doubt he will.

The Everton result was a relief as much as anything else You could almost touch it in the crowd as we left the ground
A win at Wolves would enforce that belief After that we need to get results from clubs just outside the relegation fight and the odd point from the Sky Six Easy to say but not so easy to execute
