Pharmaceutical commercials on TV drive me absolutely mad. No person in their right mind is watching a basketball game, sees a commercial for Keytruda or insert name for random drug, and rings up their doctor thinking this is the silver bullet to health. I haven't got to the part yet where they list out the symptoms that come with said drug, that often range from loss of breath, to violent diarrhea, to stroke, to loss of limb. You can't go one commercial break without a prescription drug being peddled to you. |

Like others on this post, I've listened to the Real Dictators podcast (very good). Also on Youtube, Epic History TV does a very good in-depth series on the Napoleonic wars. I'd highly recommend. I thought the movie left a lot to be desired. The film seemed awfully clunky providing no real context to anything that was really going on in the film. As others pointed out, there were significant portions of the movie that were blatantly fabricated. I also found it a bit strange where Mr. Phoenix had some interesting lines that wouldn't have come anywhere close to how they would speak in the time. Nothing major, just found it a bit "off". I realize its tough to condense a story of this complex and this long into a 2.5 hour movie, but I thought it was pretty poor. Seems like it would be better done in a series format like Band of Brothers, 10 episodes, each an hour a piece (or thereabouts) would give the director time to provide relevant context to the scenes. Really cool battle scenes though. 5.5/10 |

Seems like a sensible signing on paper with limited downside risk (4 yr deal, unknown wages). I would be curious as to what the range we think we might be paying him, on a 4 year deal. Hesitant to even ask the question in fear of this going down a speculative rabbit hole that will probably do nobody any good. Not going to pretend to know the answer, but I can't imagine the pool of players who are in their mid twenties, with international experience, and versatility is a very large one. And ones who fit that description often times aren't a viable option for QPR one reason or the other. He comes off as a genuinely curious, intelligent, respectful individual and wish him nothing but the best. |

Nice week 1 win for my Browns. Always feels a little better beating the Bengals when I've lived "behind enemy lines" for nearly 15 years. The johnson feels just a smidge longer when walking into work after a beating like that. |

As probably the only resident of Ohio on the board, I can confirm your comments. |

The Reuben's will be taking a beating in their commercial real estate portfolio, all relative of course though. Just this morning a headline article in the WSJ regarding increasing default rates in the commercial real estate market. To nobody's surprise, office space is doesn't have the demand it used to. |

In today's world, you could call it the cupcake classic and people would still find a reason to complain.......... If that's what the local people want to call it, then so be it. I actually like the moniker "Hell is Real". If people get bent out of shape over that phrase, then I can't help you. |

Agreed. I was at the FC Cincinnati v Columbus "Hell is real" game. Atmosphere was really good with Crew bringing a nice following. With FCC being half assed decent, its a bit more exciting to follow. That being said, I hardly go out of my way to view their games, while I'll pay $12 or whatever it comes out to be after FX to watch QPR most Saturday mornings. |

Can attest to wide spread increased costs across almost everything. Gas average above $5. Food prices continue to soar, everything is more expensive, with generally very little rhyme or reason. I just saw something this morning that hot sauce is now in short supply due to supply chain, weather, etc. Also heard the CEO of Costco (large grocer/wholesaler) say that for the first time in his memory, chicken breast is now more expensive than ground beef. As for crime, everywhere you hear of rising crime and shootings (i'm not talking about horrible school shootings) but to be honest, I never really see it or the impact. Maybe I'm just not hanging out in the dangerous areas. |
| Forum Reply | New Board Member and Minority Owner at 21:36 11 Feb 2022
Interesting he is from the Boston area but is a minority owner in both the Reds and FC Cincy. FC Cincy while horrible on the pitch since their indoctrination into the MLS, has been very successful on the business ops side of things. I believe he is probably a pretty small investor in both FCC and the Reds. FCC is controlled by the Lindner family, which is the majority shareholder in Great American Insurance, and owns United Dairy Farmers, amongst other ventures. Wildly wealthy family and is probably the top businessman/powerbroker in the city. The Reds are owned by a consortium of local business leaders, with the majority owner (Castellini) only owning about 27% of the team, but again is the "majority" shareholder. |

BP recorded their highest profit in 8 years yesterday, not to add fuel to the fire or anything. |

Bogarts was still hosting concerts pre Covid. Not 100% sure if the place will survive the pandemic situation. I went to school at UC but I’m not much into the music scene so I’ve never attended a concert there. |

No cicadas yet. I thought I heard/read that they need a warm rain to kind of “activate” them in a sort? It rained all day Sunday so maybe back half of this week? I know practically nothing about it. Other than the news last week said my neighborhood could have between 100-150 cicadas per square meter? Seems absolutely insane. Will report back! |
