Oakwood Theme Park Closed ... 18:38 - Mar 4 with 2429 views | theloneranger | "It is with much sadness that we have to announce the immediate closure of Oakwood Theme Park and confirm the park will not open for the 2025 season. Following a strategic review of the business, Aspro Parks, owner and operator of Oakwood Theme Park have reached this difficult decision due to the challenges presented by the current business environment. All possible avenues have been explored to avoid the closure, and we fully recognise the impact of the closure on the local community and the loss that will be felt as a result. Aspro Parks has invested over £25M since rescuing the park from being at risk of closure in 2008. Most recently a major refurbishment of Megafobia, the iconic wooden rollercoaster was completed to great success and acclaim from enthusiasts and fans of the park. Despite the ongoing investment visitor numbers have declined, the financial performance of the park has suffered, making further investment unsustainable. The unrelenting economic challenges ahead, increases in costs, affecting all areas of the operation from; ride parts to electricity costs, food and beverage inflation, increases in NLW and changes to national insurance thresholds have all impacted the decision. A statement from Aspro Parks Group said “in the entire history of Aspro we have never closed any park or attraction. We, and our dedicated team of staff has strived to overcome numerous challenges to continue to bring joy to families and visitors across the region and country. Unfortunately, we could no longer see a sustainable way forward and will seek to improve our other parks using the assets and where possible team elsewhere”. We are aware that Oakwood has been a much-loved destination for generations and a rite of passage for many young visitors. It is for this reason we feel such a sense of sadness. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the dedication and commitment of our team members past and present, suppliers and contractors who have loyally supported us and of course all those that have visited Oakwood Theme Park over the years. We are sincerely grateful. Thank you for making Oakwood Theme Park a special place." https://www.oakwoodthemepark.co.uk/blog/sin-categoria/oakwood-theme-park-to-clos

Oakwood Theme Park Closed ... on 17:40 - Mar 9 by SullutaCreturned | Tourism in Wales has dropped, can yoiu give any reasons why? If its not spped limits, if it's not infrastructure issues then what is it? |
Infrastructure is definitely an issue. I weekend in West Wales 7 or 8 times a year leaving by 10 on the Friday and have no issues. On the Saturday I often ask the late arrivals how long they took and most are saying they are reducing the number of times they visit because of the traffic.

With the attitude you have to Wales and Welsh people it’s little wonder you are not welcomed.

| Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

The M5 can be a pain, but you can now go from there to a couple from miles from Penzance on a straight road with no roundabouts. The infrastructure improvements down there, finished last year are fantastic. We could learn a lot, roundabouts are the problem from Swansea westward, imagine if these were removed and replaced with slip roads. Welsh tourism and infrastructure could learn a lot from Cornwall, that's without things like the Eden Project.

Is that the A30 that also takes in the turning onto Indian Queens that leads to Newquay? or is it further south ?

Supposed to be completed at the end of this year, can’t see it though, initial cost £35 million, probably a lot more now.

Used to go down to White Acres regularly back maybe 15/20 years ago Caravan park, but it's a massive fishery complex which as got bigger and bigger lodges there now which are stunning, think it was Jenny Agutter owned it at one-time Parkdean own it nowadays. A30 was a nightmare back then, dual carriageway then single carriage to Indian Queens turnoff to Newquay White Acres was about 30 mins from the turn off and about same from Newquay, might be less or more I can't remember now.

Went up to Hereford after work a week last Thursday and that A465 was a nightmare on the stretch from Hirwaun to Merthyr that stretch is due to be finished by the end of Summer, no chance in my opinion, coming back on the Sunday wasn't to bad though.

Oakwood Theme Park Closed ... on 12:11 - Mar 9 by lifelong | Why do you keep on calling posters who have a different opinion to you idiots, children and stupid? Then you post the nonsense that tourism rates are down in Wales partially because of the 50 mph limit on the Port Talbot stretch of the M4 which has been in force for the past 26 years. |
