Seen a lot of people moving from Twitter to Bluesky.

Anyone else done the same? What's it like over there?

bluesky sounds a bit skateish

And the White Knight is talking backwards And the Red Queen's off with her head

Think you are possibly asking the wrong people Sir as most on this forum I suspect are not that ‘up to speed’ with the whole Social Media platforms and ‘influencing’.

Reckon you might be better asking our Fan reps such as SaintRob, Alfie and that Summa bird

Ready and waiting to mop up those European places......

My guess is it’ll be full of a load of Guardian reading #bekind hypocrites, dribbling over how evil Elon Musk is.

I made the switch over as i'd had enough of the ads on twitter, plus the AI stuff concerns me.

From what i can tell it's more split into smaller communities, and fits my need as something centered around my work instead of the bile and rants of a place like twitter.

Also refreshingly there's hardly any football content on there, which is exactly what i want from social media.

Funny enough I moved there this week. Hard to have an opinion yet as you have to use it a while for the algorithm to start to understand what you're interested in. Early impressions are that there are way less users, and that there a lot less replies from bots and fewer ads.
But with less users there is less content and less to find interesting. That will change if it grows.
It is nice to try an alternative to X which has turned quite toxic since Musk took over.

There's no ads, there's also no algorithm either. You get stuff from people you follow in chronological order of when it was posted.

You can subscribe to feeds about stuff you like, or see stuff your friends liked, but there's no actual algorithm

It's putting on about 1m new users a day so pretty fast growing too

I joined bluesky a while ago, when it was owned by twitter, but it was then separated from them when Musk bought it. Its still very early days on functionality because it has a small team, which im sure will now increase. I mute out 90% of political waffle as its boring and depressing.

When Musk bought twitter he claimed that the site needed to be 'apolitcal' and now hes in bed with a political party.

The lack of moderation is a major problem and i suspect many high level companies have considered leaving twitterX. Im thinking the likes of the BBC, Skysports many retail brands etc will all be looking for a better alternative.

Most of the companies I work with are either pulling ads spend and social on twitter or stopping all together.

The proliferation of bots and the ease for their brand to end up next someone praising white supremacy of Hitler is too likely for them to take the risk.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see it implode completely in the next couple of years

Assume you’ve not used it? Mine is full of people talking about top of the pops repeats, food and beer, then the specific work stuff I follow around advertising, technology and business.

I’ve signed up to blocklists that block people who want to shout about politicos automatically so I’ll never see them and muted references to football.

It’s actually pretty nice to be honest, and a great change from the over the top fake anger of twitter.

I guess if you’re looking for engagement through baiting you’ll hate it though as people just get blocked immediately and added to lists others can subscribe to so they don’t have to see any of that nonsense

Those blocklists sound good, might well give it a go as both my daughter & I have now ditched Twitter completely. Must admit I make use of the ‘Ignore User’ facility on this site for the resident Sk8’s Porchy Blue & 130 Years so I never have to suffer any of their posts as they are consigned to virtual sewers than run below the website 🤢

It can feel a bit slow as there’s no algorithm so you need to follow people you find interesting for it to work.

Saying that the plus side is being angry or controversial doesn’t get you promoted and is more likely to get you blocked so there’s no incentive to grift like that.

Personally I like that it’s slower, and that it’s split into people’s interests or professions more than shouting at each other.

It’s a bit like a natter down the pub where the two people that shouted woke or racist at each other every night have been barred from
