Vuvuzelas Banned At St Mary's Wednesday, 14th Jul 2010 17:33 The sound of the Vuvuzela was omnipresent at the recent World Cup in South Africa, however you wont be hearing one in St Mary's next season after the club announced that it was banning them and I quote "In the interests of everyones enjoyment" Opionion will be split on this, whilst there will be those who consider them a nuisance there will be others who think they help generate an atmosphere and to be blunt it would be hard to make a decision either way. My personal view is that football supporters should be left to their own devices when it comes to supporting their team, after all a Vuvuzela is no more annoying that say the traditional football rattle and i dare say in times gone by they were just as annoying for many supporters. The time has come for football clubs to start designating the noisy areas of the ground, at St Mary's this has been the Northam and my thoughts are that if a fan in the Northam should want to bring a Vuvuzela, then why not ? it will soon either become a success or die out, but it should be the fans deciding. Obviously because they are annoying is someone is sat behind you I would agree with a ban in other areas bar the Northam End, but I think in that area of the ground it should be left to the supporters themselves. I am not going to be contradictory of the club here, they have a hard choice in the matter and for everyone that agrees with them there will be those who dont, I just think they should have given it a chance to see if it really is going to be a problem before deciding what is best to do Photo: Action Images Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
