Saints Linked with Columbian Striker Thursday, 14th Jun 2018 12:34 Saints are being linked with Columbian striker Duvan Zapata, according to reports in Italy, but are they accurate of is it agent talk ?
Zapata who turned 27 in April joined Napoli in 2013 after originally agreeing to join West ham but was unable to get a work permit for the UK, he joined Napoli instead for around 7.5 million euros but his first two years in the shadow of Vesuvius were not a complete success although he scored 11 goals in 37 Serie A appearances.
In 2015 he joined Undinese on a two year loan deal and in his two seasons there he scored 18 goals in 63 appearances.
This lead to a permanent move to Sampdoria and he continued his good form there with 11 goals and 6 assists in 31 appearances at an average of a goal every 182 minutes on the pitch.
He made his debut for Columbia in March 2017.
He is described as a big centre forward who is not afraid of the physical side of things
He is currently valued at around £16 million and West Ham are again said to be interested, but how much of this is agent talk, he is contracted to Sampdoria till 2022 so he will not be cheap, it seems to me that agents in Italy are trying to shuffle players around in Serie A at the moment including trying to link Manolo Gabbiadini with a move back to his home country.

I thought we 'd had our fill of Columbian strikers after the Delgado fiasco. Whoever this fellow is - if he hasn't got the requisite number of international apps. he might hav difficulty getting a work permit in the UK..(where have I heard that story before ?)

lets get something straight before silly season starts, we wont be signing any internationals from brazil, germany, spain, argentina, france or even England because there image rights wont allow them to play for us, you got to feel sorry for Bertrand but hands up who knew he wouldn't go to the world cup,and hands up all those that knew butland would no longer be first choice once stoke were relegated, only average ex internationals can play for us,sure there are success stories like pelle getting called up by Italy at 30 but Italy were scratching around for strikers at the time and pelle gives any team a new dimension unfortunately they are not at the world cup so there image rights are rock bottom at the moment as are Holland who made van s**e captain as soon as he signed for sh***pool and dropped hoedt the moment he signed for us strange that .

Once we leave the EU we'll have difficulty signing any player from abroad. Football wont be a special case, we might even have a few British players in starting elevens!

Goal scorers are so hard to find. I hope we keep Gabbiadini and use him properly. I really hope we can get Madison from Norwich. A goal-scoring midfielder is lacking as much as a striker.. Danny Ings would be a good shout for another striker, not another who has to adapt to life in England and the Prem.

No - he said Columbian but they are next door to each other. I think the guy played more games for Ecuador while he was with us than he played for Saints. He was in the 'shadow of Vesuvius' while at Napoli - so why don't we sign Vesuvius?
