Is The Time Up For Puel? I`m afraid so - start the process now as it will do the least damagE in this part of the season in our position. I would estimate Saints have at least 2 options in reserve already. In general he is too inconsistent and too conservative for us. I agree with the commentator that said his faults to some extent have been masked somewhat by skillful players.

The two things that keep getting overlooked are that Les will never admit he was wrong in appointing Puel so cannot sack him, secondly the club will never sack manager because they will have to pay compensation for the two years remaining of his contract. The easy way out would be for Puel to leave voluntarily but as he sees his appointment as a project - probably sold to him that way - no way will he do that. Outcome is an impasse and of course SFC being how they are, they'll just muddle on and hope things get better next year. Serendipity will be the name of the game not decision making.

A very polite way of putting it but good interview, for me Puel should never have started but I kept most of my opinions to myself this season, the club have driven a wedge between themselves and the fans this season so as said we will just ponder on with puel and playing that embarrassing song and giving our stadiums atmosphere to the away fans, the injury updates the transfer rumours all season, the bizarre subs and team selections, and of course the Fonte debacle the club has been quiet throughout which is sad coyr.

He hasn't had much to work with this year, so it's not all his fault. However, who is on the list to replace him? All the top available managers turned us down when asked---and were probably not approached by the club this past summer. If this investigation into Newcastle bears fruit (deductions, fines, etc.) Rafa might be available....but would he put up with Les?

The time should definitely be up for Les Reed. Are we supposed to pay him until he is 70? Selling our captain and defensive leader to West Ham cost us the League Cup Final and several league places. What did old Les do with the money? Paid Caceres to do nothing. Les Reed should accept his retirement before he gets the club relegated.

West Ham have kept 4 clean sheets in their last 5 games. That used to be us until moron Les Reed decided to trade reigning European Champion Jose Fonte for ex-footballer, unlikely to ever play again, Caceres.

Nick, When are we going to have a poll to see if its Puel in or out?

If Claude Puel is reading this today, could he just turn on the Man City game? Two or three passes and they are near the opposing team's box. Thier football is so positive and forward thinking. This is not rocket science. Puel is taking that away from Saints. Too much passing and giving the defending team time to get into their positions is not the way forward for Saints. You only have to look at Forster and his kicking this season. He is not used to it being passed back so often. This is because we keep passing, and it goes nowhere, so they pass it back to Forster. But look on the bright side other teams have been worse than us so we end up 10th which does not make us good. I think this top 10 thinking is naive as within this season there have been some woeful team performances from a woeful manager.

Puel's press conference was a disaster, it was obvious he was feeling very uncomfortable right now and probably half expecting the chop. He was on the defensive throughout and obviously distracted by events, e.g. he couldn't remember who we played the match before Hull and needed every question translated before he could concentrate enough to answer... and all his answers were excuses and justifications of his actions... "Hull was only one game"? So what about all the others where we played badly and lost when we should have won? He's a dead man walking right now.

Its half time at todays matches and now we are in the Bottom half of the league table 12th. PUEL OUT....

Well, there you go. Sadly it is difficult to see us getting more than 1 pt from the last five games and we could easily end up 16th.

My worry is if the board went cheap hiring Puel, how low will they go for his replacement? Any manager worth his salt is going to want to know Les' plans for Van Dyke and Gabbiadini. The answer will probably make them get up and leave right then and there.

Blogs 31 bloggersKnees-up Mother Brown #19 by wessex_exile February, and the U’s enter the most pivotal month of the season. Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league. After our shambolic 5-0 defeat at New Lawn, nothing would give me greater pleasure, even if it meant losing one of my closest awaydays in the process. What’s the excuse going to be today Steve – shocking pitch, faking head injuries, Mexican banditry or some other bit of sour-grapery bullsh*t? Peterborough United Polls |
