Schneiderlin To Earn £120k A Week At Old Trafford Friday, 26th Jun 2015 10:36 The media are reporting that should Morgan Schneiderlin complete his proposed move to Old Trafford then he will be a very rich man.
Any Saints supporter who wondered why Morgan Schneiderlin was so keen to leave St Mary's would have had their questions answered in the media with many outlets reporting that the Frenchman is about to sign a £120k a week deal at Old Trafford.
This is perhaps 3 times the amount that he could hope to earn at Saints and even if he was made the club's highest earner then he would probably be on not much more than half of what United seem willing to offer him.
But who can blame him for wanting to move for money, in fairness to Schneiderlin he has served Saints well in the 7 seasons he has been at St Mary's, he more than anyone with perhaps the exception of Adam Lallana in the past 12 months or so deserves a move for services rendered.
In modern day football it is rare that a player stays at a Premier league club very long, Schneiderlin was loyal when we were relegated to League One and has played his part in our revival, yes last summer he had a brief throwing of the toys, but he stayed and got his head down and put in another good season, now is the time that he gets his just rewards for those 7 seasons hard work and those rewards are that he has the chance to test himself in the Champions League and get paid handsomely for doing so.
So good luck Morgan Schneiderlin if your destination is Old Trafford or the Emirates, however if you end up at White hart lane i reserve the right to rescind this eulogy.

Good call Nick. Morgan has earned his move away for the glittering prizes that Man U can offer. Football these days is all about the market place and prestige and after 7 years service who can feel badly towards him. A move to Tottenham would have been a different matter - and on that subject the reported move of Toby to Spurs is a revolting prospect.

While the loss of Schneiderlin will be felt deeply, and I am not so confident as some that we will sign a 'replacement', I wish Morgan every success at wherever he goes to. Unlike the other 'stars', he really impressed me last season. When his move away was blocked, he could have responded very differently -- but he gave us a season of excellence and his value has probably increased as a result. Good for him. If someone offered me the reported £120,000 per week I'd seriously consider acts of violence against my Granny, let alone playing football for another team. Good luck, Morgan -- I wouldn't bother too much about a full page ad in the Echo, just a heartfelt tweet would do.

Good luck to Morgan -- he has been magnificent for us and greatly deserves this move (unlike Clyne, who will hopefully go the same way as the other Liverpool ex Saints). However, I wish Nick would stop telling us how small a club we are, and how we can't compete, and how 7th is a great result for us. Even if it is true, I would point out that if we think small, we will certainly stay small.

I'd like to offer some perspective on matters as football clearly has none. Yes, Morgan has been a great servant to the club over the years, especially through those dark league one days. Yes he threw his rattles out of the pram last year when everyone else seemed to be dazzled by the bright lights & big bucks of the Premier League Cartel that is the top 6 but instead, he got his head down and got on with his job…. Yes his job, his job as a professional footballer, under contract to Southampton that he signed a year or two prior. A job where not only does he get the adulation from an adoring crowd week in week out but a job he gets paid around 40K a week to do. 40K a week!!! I barely earn that a year!! Furthermore, a job that he loves, a job most of us would love! I don’t always love my job!! I’m sorry people but I just don’t buy in to all this ‘oh he’s done his time’ nonsense ‘he deserves his big money move’ blah blah blah. I’m not saying these guys aren’t good at what they do but seriously, the only reason we try to justify a player like Morgan moving away is because deep down, it hurts and we try and convince ourselves otherwise. I love football and more specifically I love Saints but little simple ol’ me will never understand these vast sums of money players get and I seriously have zero sympathy for anyone looking to double/triple their income when they already earn enough to sustain a small town in Africa indefinitely. Having said this, I do wish him the best. I’ve loved watching him play. I just hope Koeman has a few irons in the fire ready to fill a rather big Morgan shaped hole. Up the Saints!! ïŠ

Agree with you Nick and the posters above. If Morgan goes to Man U then I genuinely wish him all the best. You can't hold anything against a player who has given you seven superb seasons and is moving on to earn £120k in the CL. It always hurts when you feel like you've lost one of your own. I appreciate he wasn't an academy product, but he feels like it. I think it's fair to refer to him as a club legend in years to come. There will be few better in that position. With regards to Toby and Clyne that really does leave a bitter taste in my mouth. I alwas thought of Clyne as ambitious, but the move to Liverpool smacks more of just money. Liverpool's chances of CL football don't look likely any time soon. And I appreciate Toby isn't our player and is at the mercy of his club, but Tottenham!! Surely if we wanted him that badly we could have matched any offer they were prepared to make, especially with the sales of Clyne and Morgan looking very likely.

Almost universally Saints fans I've seen and heard from are happy for MS to cash in, in short he's earned it.

Good luck to Morgan Schneiderlin. Now its time saints spent all this money on getting Toby Alderweireld back to Southampton along with Jordy Clasie

Forget Toby going to Spuds, absolutely no chance he'll go there. Just London press SS
