Grapevine Is Whispering A Big Signing Today For Saints
Monday, 2nd Feb 2015 14:15

The deadline day transfer grapevine is always very hit and miss as club's try to finalise deals and some get done and some don't, but toda's whisper is that there is a big signing in the offing for Saints.

The rumour mill is not the most accurate of barometers, but just because something doesn't happen it doesnt mean that it wasn't going to, in the days before the end of any transfer window deals are frantically trying to be done and in a lot of cases some deals just dont happen for a variety of reasons, one being the two clubs just run out of time.

Supporters often don't here about these deals as it is in no ones interest to let it out that a player was willing to leave a club or indeed the club was willing to let him go, so they are usually brueshed under the carpet, sometimes revisited in the next window sometimes not.

But the word is on the street that Saints are planning a big signing today and if it comes off it will excite the Saints supporters, the two names im hearing mentioned are Jordie Clasie and Danny Ings, both have been linked with Saints before, so in that respect nothing new, but the whisper is that one or the other is on the way to St Mary's.

At the moment our transfer status is :

Djuricic - we are close to signing him

Vilhena - not happening today, as Feyenoord have blocked the move and we will have to wait until the summer - if we still want him by then.

As we are not now signing Vilhena, Classie is the obvious other midfiled target for us, so lets see how things progress - although I'm not sure how much he is valued at.

Ings would be great for us. I had previously heard that he had agreed to join us in the summer once he became out of contract, what with him being a Saints fan and all that. The likes of Liverpool and Newcastle have shown interest in him, but perhaps he is holding out for a move back south ?

Also it is rumoured that Super Ricky Lambert will be loaned out for the rest of the season, but firstly I am not sure he would come back to us and secondly, I expect Liverpool would only loan him if they got in another striker (hence their Ings interest perhaps ?)

Despite plenty of tabloid rumours, I can't see any further departures. If Morgan does go, it will be in the summer. Jay Rod will stay because even if we were to sell him - which is not going to happen - nobody would pay top dollar for him until he has been tried and tested, back in the prem. (Perhaps the reason why he won't be played until later this month / early next) :-)

Why would Burnley let Ings go on transfer deadline day, with no way of replacing him. He's their only chance of staying up. Can't see it happening, myself.

Djuricic - is being reported as a done deal 12m Euro option to buy
Vilhena - is being reported as off as feyenoord want more than we will pay. That being the case cant see us stumping up even more for Clasie.

Forwards - Pretty sure that we have had our forward signing in Elia, Ings may sign in the summer if Jay Rod moves on but we have a lot of loan - perminant deals to finalise (hopefully!) so im not anticipating any major moves

i suggest replace Forester after several mistakes which became goals like yesterday mybe not today but in summer.also Fonte is not a good option and also he is a symbol;like Gerrard;the latter is about to leave or forced to so its not a fantasy.
i think i will be un popular by saying this but this its a logical option if the team wants to be in top four next season

Some lonely hack is suggesting that Morgan has "agreed terms" with Arsenal to join at the end of the season. They reportidly only have the final hurdle of agreeing a fee with Saints!

Jesus - the sky sports news reporter at SMS mentioned a move for Morgan today, as it was widely reported in French media this morning - with a £25m fee. He basically said this was just paper talk and that Morgan was not going anywhere - in fact, he was back in training today, having been out injured and was expecting to feature against QPR this weekend.

Not sure if we will keep Elia. Don't know what the fee would be, but perhaps he is just a stand in for the rest of the season, until Jay Rod is fully fit and/or Ings becomes a free agent ? Elia stays out on the wing far too much. He has good skills, but somehow they don't seem to be utilised fully and he should drift more centrally at times, as per the damage he caused at Newcastle :-)

Ings has agreed a move to Spain to link up with moyes,i would like to see Luca Biglia in from Lazio to replace Cork if he would come to us,otherwise i have faith with Koeman, except i would of played Gardos over Yoshida against the Swans. COYR.

So the big signing ended up being our very own Ryan Bertrand :-)
Glad to have him on board permanently, but not sure if he is worth the £10m we are rumoured to have paid for him.

I see Ricky declined a £5m move to Villa

Liverpool will apparently try to get a deal done over the next few weeks for Ings - but not sure how that works, seeing as the window has closed. Perhaps he is better off playing for the team he supports !!:-)
