Marti's pre-Plymouth talk
at 17:20 16 Jan 2025

A very long answer to the very un-Offish 'curved ball' question, which some will buy, and some of us won't. I don't think it's too hard a job to join up the dots for Marti between the six goals we conceded and the six changes the manager made, which were at least four or five more at least than he would have done had Leicester been a league game. Either way, not to flog our dead F A Cup horse, we're out of the cup in rather humiliating fashion - again! Just has has been said of Nourry not expressing enough humility about 'getting it wrong' on today's thread about him, either way, I'd have liked to have seen the same thing from Marti.

Plymouth will be a tough game, especially after their cup success, and, personally, I don't think our prospects of three points will have been improved by last weekend's detrimental and ill-advised rotation. Football is all about confidence and momentum, and Jake's feelings looked like they were on the floor on Saturday, while Edwards will hardly have got the baptism he wanted. That's what happens when you change it all up, more often than not. Some will consider all is forgiven/vindicated if we win, of course.

Clive meeting with Nourry
at 16:44 16 Jan 2025

Thanks for that, Mr W, and the very informative report.

I'd like to think, and indeed do think, that Nourry is one of those who is 'desperate' for QPR to do well. He doesn't want QPR to fail, does he, as how would that help his own career if nothing else?

Mind you, given that the previous bar was a burnt-out CEO who put his finger up at fans on film in the street and laughed in the faces of others, the bar was so low he could hardly fail to improve on it. And he is, in my opinion.

Moreover, if Marti felt he couldn't work with him and/or they weren't on the same page, he surely wouldn't have agreed a contract extension. (The same Marti, btw, for whom some are happy to keep his thoughts to himself after bad performances while fulminating against even the slightest perceived prevarication/evasion by CN. Conversely, while transparency is a good thing as far as possible, I don't expect our CEO to tell us absolutely everything. They're the professionals, and not us.)

Cautiously, therefore, and for all these reasons, I feel more sure today than for some time that the direction of travel is encouraging.

I think Nourry comes across well here, and also gives a good impression of a continuous dialogue with MC and so forth around recruitment that rings true - to me at least.

I was interested to know if your opinion of CN has changed, Clive, as a result of this latest forum, compared to the sentiments you've previously expressed on LfW.

He got, what, 20 games or so for us, from about 2020. I'd want Marti to at least take another look at him post-Orient, or what's the point of his loan from our POV?

Not feeling optimistic about this one, though it's hard to say if most of that is because I'm still so fed up about the Leicester debacle. I feart they'll do a number on us, though.

Saito, stick or twist?
at 15:59 16 Jan 2025

Having seen the improvment in Smyth (at 27), I definitely want us to persevere with Saito, as I think he has quality and a great attitude. Willock was even weaker when he first joined, and I'm sure he can get wirier and more canny, with good coaching and physical adjustment work. Probably not a starter, but definitely a potential second half player. However, Marti needs to play him as a winger not a wing-back for me, as that's his forte.

I actually quite like Nourry's 'way with words' - it's quite fun and creative. 'Different styles of finishing ability' means, I imagine, just what it says, i.e, he is able to finish in different styles, so I'm not quite sure what Brian M's issue is there.

Most importantly, can this lad play, and is he ready?

I think you're missing the point - the clue's in the phrase 'post-Leicester'. Maybe take a moment to review the 25+ pages of back and forth on that thread to get on board with the controversy?

Slattery's genius Irishness, anger, and compulsivity moves and moved me. I hope he gets his own berth in heaven.

It's all a bit depressing when we feel forced to cast ourselves as plebs grasping at crumbs (paid for or not) from Nourry's table. Increasingly, I feel I'm just not 'umble enough to be a football fan in the modern age.

Yes, you're spiffingly hilarious! You couldn't be much of a caricaturist if you appeared in your very own Spitting Image movie! If I had a pound for everyone who plays the man (me) not the ball (my points/arguments) on this site, I could bring Mo Salah to QPR!

More importantly, I'll be most interested to see what Nourry has to say, as I think we do need some balance about him from the real world (or what passes for such in football).

Fog - FA guidance for pitch inspection
at 15:41 14 Jan 2025

Strangely, I also watched it on a good stream, and could see the ball and players fine from start to finish. The fog obviously also didn't stop us playing fluently for half the first half, and Leicester hitting us for six.

No idea what you mean by 'bait', mate. I do what anyone else does here - post and put up polls etc. relative to what I have opinions on (and am interested in other opinons on, as with this post). In that sense, anything anyone posts is 'bait'.

If you don't want to 'take the bait' (i.e. respond to my views and discussion), even if others would rather seethe with their own resentments and resentful assumptions and projections, it's rather easy - just don't!

Just for the record, it wasn't me - so perhaps think about your own assumptions, eh?

Amazing! What a scapegoating, resentful person you are! Maybe find one or two things to do that make you happy/ier? Just a thought.

OK, you win, as it seems so important to you to score resentful points. A fan posts a poll on a messageboard, and you feel the need to respond like this. As I say, it's all about you, really. Have a great night.

It wasn't an 'opinion', it was (and indeed is) a poll, with a wide spectrum of possible answers. What part of that are you not receiving?
