| Forum Thread | Stop those crosses at 11:42 16 Aug 2024
My message to the team on Saturday is STOP the crosses coming in - or at least the occasional one. From what I have seen in the friendlies and the first game, both full backs / wingers have been useless at stopping the crosses. Dunne and Smyth combination doesn't seem to work as a defensive unit. Paal and Koli are way too weak defensively. What has happened to Paal? It is probably because he doesn't have an outlet like Chair to play alongside so his main game now is defending which he is crap at. I don't want to criticise Dunne but I think the full back experiment may be over. Put him back in the center and let's get a full back with a bit of pace. I think Santos needs a chance - he came here as a right back and he hasn't been played there once. I really hope I'm wrong but we could easily be on the wrong end of a thrashing on Saturday. Hopefully MC can come up with something - maybe we go all out attack. |

Find it very worrying that Cifuentes couldn't recognise that our only threat on Monday was Paul Smyth on the right. Full back and centre half both on a booking. What does he do?? He sends on Albert and moves Smyth over to the left. We offered nothing after that. Just a suggestion - maybe try playing Dykes in midfield. It is clearly not working with him as centre forward, no point in flogging a dead horse with him hiding behind the centre half - thought he did ok playing deeper v Ipswich |
| Forum Thread | JFH thinks he's still at Chelsea at 13:01 6 Mar 2016
JFH has ruined any chance of reaching the play-offs by his ridiculous squad rotation and picking a completely different team every week. Confidence breeds from winning. We deservedly beat Birmingham then he completely changes the midfield and attacking formation v MK and we lose another winnable game. Madness. He thinks he's still at Chelsea with a big squad of internationals. How can he justify that team selection - especially the midfield where the combination of Toszer, Henry, Luongo and Chery has repeatedly failed. Was Hoilett injured? Polter did ok v birmingham and then he is dropped - is that going to give him confidence - dont think so. |
| Forum Thread | Les Ferdinand - time to go at 11:13 22 Oct 2015
He is responsible for... CR coming in as manager Not selling Phillips, Austin & co Not selling the above meant keeping massive salaries on books and led to making a serious bunch of cr*p, useless loan signings No doubt will sell Austin and co for virtually nothing in January Can't get any decent loan signings from the big teams for some reason (and no Watford are not a big team) Not a youth player near the first team all of a sudden Creating a long-term plan - well the short-term plan is not going in the right direction so absolutely no chance of a decent long-term plan Sorry LF and CR but time to go. Everyone was rooting for them but it just isn't working. If it wasn't for 10m we got for Sterling we'd be in deeper sh*t |
| Forum Thread | The answer is simple at 13:45 19 Oct 2015
appoint Warnock as Manager appoint Derry or Hill as assistant make Ramsey youth team coach Let Les F get a job back at Tottingham give the lazy so-called stars of the team a rocket up their back-sides send Henry to a retirement home for bandy-legged, useless people I am not a fan of players like Hoilett but he would be a good player in the championship - never gets a look in and apparently was MoM for Canada. Henry seems to be the first name on the team sheet - why can't Ramsey see how useless he is! I look back to the football we played under Warnock and we were actually far and away the best team in the league that year We have some potential - we just need somebody to start releasing it Ramsey is steering us to a situation where we could get relegated - he has no idea how to teach defending or a decent passing game. I am sick of hearing how the opposing team "deserved" to beat us in virtually every game. |
| Forum Thread | Latest player news? at 13:03 7 Aug 2015
Anybody know: If Leroy Fer is fit to play or is he injured? If Sandro is still in Brazil and if his work permit is sorted? If anyone else is injured? Is Grant Hall any good? Have we got any chance of getting Ream from Bolton? Who is our reserve keeper and is he/she any good? Why we seem to be signing midfielders by the bucket load instead of defenders/attackers? Phillips/Fer/Henry/Gobern/Gladwin/Luongo/Chery/Faurlin/Doughty (9!!) and there's probably more Also, does anybody have an inkling as to the team on Saturday - I haven't got a clue - except for Green in goal |
| Forum Thread | Yet another summer in absolute chaos at 12:34 12 May 2015
Unfortunately, the FFP legal dispute will probably run and run. In the meantime, we will not be able to buy players, plan a strategy for whatever league we are in. We will probably be forced to let everyone go who has no contract, sell everyone (some on the cheap) who are on contracts and be left with no team by the time the season starts. I personally believe that the FFP rules are a disgrace. They make the rich teams richer and the small teams smaller. When they were introduced, they should have been introduced in a gradual way over 3-5 years to enable teams to adapt and to plan ahead. Rangers were stuck with players on high wages and long term contracts - and before you all start on about Tony F - he tried to stay in the PL - what do you do - you trust a manager to recruit the right players. The only way to get proper PL players to come to a team like Rangers is to pay over the odds. Even then, if they become a hit like Austin, you have to pay them massive wages on a long term deal to either keep them or to secure a big fee when the big boys come in to buy. It is a no win position for a team like Rangers with an 18,000 capacity. HR is the real villain here - not down to his effort - but because in his belief in hiring old, paceless, injury prone ex-PL players usually at the last minute. You will see next year at least 2 of the promoted teams get relegated. Because of the badly thought out FFP rules this will continue to be the case until the PL splits in to 2 leagues (Rich boys league, semi-rich boys league bored of never having anything to play for).Because of the Bosman ruling, you cannot cap players earnings which is a shame as this would be the only way to allow teams to compete equally for players. I am quite happy being out of the PL in the championship or conference - not having to see the opposition doing fly-dives over an outstretched toe-nail, banging the ground in apparent agony only to get up 2 seconds later when no-one comes to his attention as they all know he's acting - ref. Giroud v Swansea - also seeing Terry trying to influence/bully the ref. Would love to see PL players play vs. a Rugby League team. Oh well - at least we will have a chance to go to Wembley again and hopefully repeat a great experience rather than constantly battling relegation in the PL. |
| Forum Thread | Except Sherwood - who is really in the frame for manager at 21:31 9 Feb 2015
Is the MK manager available? Lets give him a go. Or let's look at young managers whose teams play good football - I am sick of watching rubbish. We've been playing with no pace, no confidence and just hoofing it up the pitch. Any suggestions ??? |
| Forum Thread | what has hoddle brought to the table? at 13:02 8 Oct 2014
Not sure how much influence Hoddle has had but apart from Sunderland our pitiful performances so far haven't shown any signs of organization, togetherness or ability. Confidence is at its lowest - nobody wants the ball, Caulker to Ferdinand, Ferdinand to Traore, Traore to Henry, Henry to Caulker, Caulker to Onouha, Onouha to Krancjar or Austin who lose it. On the back foot again. No pace, no desire. When you look at our signings, they are hardly winners! Caulker and Mutch from relegated Cardiff, Fer from relegated Norwich, Isla and Vargas out of favour at debt-ridden Italian clubs, as for Krancjar who could hardly make our first team last year - then we sign a good keeper to destroy Green's confidence (when is he going to actually stop a goal - thought he should have stopped Man U's first goal and should have come out for WH's first goal). Time for Redknapp, Bond, Jordan, Hoddle, (why Sir Les? - great player but haven't we got enough) to go - lets get in a young manager, younger players with passion and ideas without an entourage of highly paid coaches . Let's start playing some football we can enjoy watching, win or lose - frankly I'm embarrassed to watch the R's in the pub especially when you see other teams like Burnley fighting for their lives on a shoe-string buget. |
| Forum Thread | Mark Hughes not as bad as evryone is making out at 12:53 2 Apr 2014
I know I am going to be crucified for this but I just can't see how we are close to being 1/2 the side we had under Mark Hughes - September 2012 we played Spurs at WHL off the park in the 1st half - an unlucky own goal and then a Defoe goal minutes later seemed to sum up the season and they did lose confidence after that. Now we have a bunch of old has-beens eeking out as much money as they can before they go off to football heaven (still in-tact through not exerting themSelves for the last 12 months). Went to Blackpool game to see Henry (surely the most talentless and negative footballer to don a QPR shirt), Onuha panic whenever the ball came close, Keane jumping around like a 10 year-old aimlessly chasing the ball round the pitch - Essou-Akotu (seriously needs a rocket up his arse) stroll through yet another game - Zamora hobble through 90 minutes (does he need a new hip??). Why HR picked such a defensive team at home to one of the worst sides is incredulous to me. Eventually, Hoilett comes on and the game is turned on its head. Thank god Simpson is back and lets hope Austin gets back soon to bundle in a few goals. If we can't beat Blackpool at home and they were mega-useless then we won't have much chance of winning the play-offs. Even if we did get promoted then it would require a complete clear-out as even our best players (Hill, Dunne, Barton, Krancjar,) are senior citizens and would not be good enough in the EPL. Jenas, O'Neil, Hughes, Benayoun, SWP, Zamora, Johnson are all on the scrapheap. Hoilett has the talent but something is missing, Austin might score a few but isn't skillful enough. That just leaves us with Matty Phillips (promising and strong), Faulin (great player but injury-prone and lacks pace), Simpson (very consistent) and Rob Greene (no youngster!). Then there is Traore - new lease of life on left wing but too much like a headless chicken. Where are the youngsters - would much rather see an inexperienced player trying but making mistakes than an experienced player just playing safe. Is there anyone I haven't slagged off yet?? Let me know and I'll find something wrong with them! BTW Taraabt would have cleaned up in the championship but not good for team morale. Feel sorry for Fernandez who has had his bank balance cleaned out by Hughes and HR - but still feel that team under Hughes was far, far better than what we currently have under HR. I will wait for the attacks - be gentle - this is my first rant on LFW |
