| Forum Thread | Redknapp Transfer Ban at 12:07 28 Jan 2015
Given that we're probably 60-40 (if not more) towards getting relegated and that, whatever league we're in next season Redknapp looks increasingly unlikely to be in charge at Loftus Road, does anyone think it's a good idea to let 'Arry sign players on permanent deals this January? Anyone taking over in the summer will want his own squad for whatever league we're in and the club will, yet again, be trying to shift players in/out on a large scale. Redknapp should be told in no uncertain terms - no permanent deals in or out. Loans only. |
| Forum Thread | Jealousy at 09:47 27 Jan 2015
This isn't something I ever thought I'd feel but it's true - I'm jealous of Swansea and Newcastle. Stable, well run clubs with a clear, logical, affordable and, most importantly, long-term plan. Swansea have just bought a promising young English midfielder from Exeter (another well run club for their size btw) and will give him time to further develop. Newcastle are seemingly on the verge of signing Dele Alli for £4million, to go alongside Lascelles and Darlow. All highly promising players, especially Alli, who already have a good grounding and the potential to push on much further in the PL. Wasn't long ago both of those clubs were in a mess. Both of them seem to be operating the way we used to: buy young, develop your own and then sell on. Use the profits to sustain the club. Sigh. |
| Forum Thread | Phillips - Maloney Swap Deal at 22:29 15 Jan 2015
So apparently QPR offered Matt Phillips to Wigan in exchange for Shaun Maloney. 31 year old Shaun Maloney. Someone's going to have to explain that one to me. |
| Forum Thread | My First Novel - Out Now! at 10:35 3 Oct 2014
I’ve just self-published a novel, called Bluebeat Boy, and thought I’d take the opportunity to let you all know about it. I’ve lived with mental health issues for most of my life, a combination of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and accompanying anxiety issues, and have written a novel on the subject. The aim was to take my understanding of these issues and put them in a fictional setting, to provide people with a flavour of what life is like for those living with them. As such, the characters and events in this book are all fictitious, but hopefully reflect the passions, emotions and predicaments in a realistic fashion. I’ve entered into an agreement with a charity called AnxietyUK, who will be receiving a substantial donation from each copy sold. They do a lot of good work with and for people living with these conditions. QPR were kind enough to put a small piece about this in the Stoke programme. Below is a link to my own website, which has more detailed information about my own background as well as my motivation for writing Bluebeat Boy. http://www.mahorsfield.com And links for purchasing said book, if anyone feels so inclined. Paperback http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bluebeat-Boy-M-A-Horsfield/dp/1500672351 Kindle http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bluebeat-Boy-M-Horsfield-ebook/dp/B00N6NSAG4/ref=tmm_kin Nook http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/bluebeat-boy-m-a-horsfield/1120256757?ean=294015 Finally, here is some info on AnxietyUK and the work they do. http://www.anxietyuk.org.uk/ Thanks Martin [Post edited 3 Oct 2014 10:38]

| Forum Thread | Our Midfield Trio at 09:40 22 Apr 2014
Was the source of our defensive problems yesterday. When you line up with 3-5-2 (that later became 3-4-1-2, with Morrison pushed forward to play behind the front two) and you have two slow centre backs, you need some solidity in the middle three. Instead, we had Barton, Carroll and Morrison. Only one of those players is prepared to make a tackle and actually knows how to defend. There were notable instances of both Morrison and Carroll not only missing tackles but actually turning away from them, which is nothing short of shameful. The result was that Barton was left to carry the workload all on his own, which is an impossibility. When Watford were playing their best football in the first half their midfield, in particular Lewis McGugan, was left with acres of space to move into and pass the ball. Very often McGugan would pull to their left and Simpson would find himself with two men to pick up. That would then draw Onuoha, as the right sided player in our back three, forward to help him out. That in turn then left space behind Onuoha, because our back three was now a lopsided back two with Dunne central and Hill to the left. It also exposed Dunne's lack of pace and enormous turning circle. It seems Redknapp wants to play that formation because he's tried it a few times now, and I can see the benefits in that it gets someone up front to support Austin and it suits Simpson and Traore who both like to get forward. But it means you can't play Carroll and Morrison in the middle together, you need someone like Henry in there to help Barton. Otherwise a team with good movement (namecheck for WIgan!) will find it very easy to exploit the gaping holes in our midfield. For me, you decide which one of Carroll and Morrison is most likely to win you a game and you stick with him. And, as much as Morrison has numerous flaws (it's a bit like watching a young Taarabt) he's far more likely to pop up with a winning goal. |
| Forum Thread | Fernandes Hasn't Read Clive's Article at 09:58 3 Jan 2013
Or if he has he hasn't learned a thing from it. This is his latest tweet: What u reckon. After all the attacks on me this is sweet. Long long way to go. Much to do. Long long way from safety but keep believing and enjoy the moment. RT @QPRh92: @tonyfernandes tony how much are you buzzing right now??? Attacks? He's got away remarkably lightly so far, mainly because he's a jovial chap and his predecessor was detested. He really needs to have a re-think or else the shambles will continue. One win, however magnificently enjoyable, does not alleviate the self-inflicted problems at the club. |
