Good points & to add I’ve noticed in the last month we’ve started to, at times when we are dominated the ball operate with two inverted FBs - Key has been doing this for a while on the right but Tymon has now operating similarly on the left (at times vs QPR they were both inside with our CBs plus Grimes behind them). Not sure if this is a more recent variation by LW or the next step on progression but will be interesting to see if this reappears vs Cardiff as suspect we’ll be dominating the ball again. As far as today’s game goes be good to give a few players a break - Cabango, Darling, Vigouroux, Key etc - but expect LW will want a better performance & result than our 5-0 defeat from 12 months ago. Suspect Ginnelly will be on the bench too. |

Unfortunately & as I understand it current P & S rules exclude all of the £21M investor/ownership support - if/ when the EFL moves to a squad cost system there may be an element of ownership support included. |

& won’t happen - unfortunately this is the reality of modern football it has little to do with what’s happened in the past. Two of the biggest clubs in the land have key players in exactly the same situation & are not freezing out Salah, TAA, KDB, VVD etc. Personally I still think we have a decent shot at retaining him but suspect it will depend firstly on us & how the second half of the season goes - if we were to finish top 9/10 & looked a decent proposition for next season - and secondly who actually comes in for him. Clearly if it’s an EPL or top 3/4 Championship side with deeper pockets we might struggle but don’t see a mid/lower division side being of much appeal even if it is a few quid more. |

Think Ronald drops out of of spots in Jan as he’s been with us for 12 months |

Apparently that is the case - personally wouldn’t be surprised if he took no part on Saturday as we don’t have a midweek game next week so he then gets a full week’s prep before Luton away but with 9 subs he could make it ( & would give a wide option to replace Peart-Harris or Ronald late on). |

Back on the grass & might make the bench for Saturday. |

For me the issue was never how we played under RM more is inability (aka down right refusal) to recognise there are both games & time within games where you need to be flexible & dial the possession/passing up and down. Not talking about switching to route 1 but to add/subtract urgency to get forward as the real game situation dictates - countless times we were losing/drawing as the second half ticked away & yet we were seemingly content to knock it around in our half regardless of the fact that the opposition were happy to sit in a low block in front of us as they were happy with what they had. For me a complete lack of game intelligence for the sake of his philosophy/principles. |

Tend to agree Rich - my frustration so far in LW’s short tenure was perfectly illustrated in yesterday’s game in that we had circa 50% possession, 50% corners, 50% time in opposition half etc etc yet we had less than half as many attempts on goal (on & off target) so our goalkeeper is worked twice as hard which tends to lead to conceding goals unless our GK has a blinder. That’s why for me a good finisher/striker plus goal scoring ‘10’ are key to the next 5 weeks (plus ideally another experienced CB). |

Think this is Koln’s 6th pre-season match having won 4 & drawn 1 of the previous five - scored 33 goals too so should be a tough ask for us. |
