Asking A.I why QPR are so rubbish?
at 08:30 2 Dec 2023

And Bard AI replied (hitting many nails on the head)

The reasons for Queens Park Rangers' (QPR) struggles are multifaceted and have persisted over time. Here are some potential factors that could contribute to their performance:

1 Inconsistent management and ownership: QPR has had a revolving door of managers and owners in recent years, leading to a lack of stability and continuity in the club's direction and philosophy.

2 Inability to attract and retain top talent: QPR has struggled to attract and retain top-quality players, often losing their best performers to rival clubs. This has made it difficult to build a cohesive and competitive squad.

3 Financial constraints: QPR has faced financial difficulties in recent years, limiting their ability to invest in players and infrastructure. This has put them at a disadvantage compared to clubs with more resources.

4 Poor recruitment strategy: QPR's recruitment strategy has often been questionable, resulting in the acquisition of players who have not lived up to expectations.

5 Lack of attacking threat: QPR has often struggled to score goals, which has hindered their ability to win games.

6 Defensive frailties: QPR has also been prone to conceding goals, making it difficult for them to secure victories.

7 Inability to perform under pressure: QPR has a tendency to falter under pressure, often dropping points in crucial matches.

8 Lack of home form: QPR has struggled to perform consistently at home, failing to capitalize on the advantage of playing in front of their own fans.

9 Mental fragility: QPR has shown signs of mental fragility at times, allowing setbacks to derail their progress.

10 Lack of a clear playing style: QPR has lacked a clear and consistent identity in terms of their playing style, making it difficult for players to adapt and perform effectively.

Addressing these issues will require a comprehensive approach that encompasses management stability, improved recruitment, tactical development, and mental strengthening.

I'll ask again in a week or two a more positive question and see what it dreams up :)

Will this season be as bad as 68/69?
at 11:15 6 Aug 2023

I was lucky (unlucky) enough to watch all the home games of our 68/69 season where effectively we were a 3rd division team playing in the 1st Division. No wonder we found it so hard to gain any points . But at least the team tried, the players didn’t shirk and they sweat blood for the club.

Our record then was

Played 42
Home won 4 drew 7 lost 10 for 20 against 33
Away. Won 0 drew 3 lost 18 for 19 against 62
Total point 18

I fear something similar or even worse this season.

We have a manager totally out of his depth. A majority of players who couldn’t give a toss and a large number of players who are , like the manager are League 2 standard only.

Back in 69 we had a Chairman who was probably our best ever. He managed to turn the club around and within a few years we back up to Division 1 and were punching our weight .

The club needs a massive clear out of management and staff and new owners who are football focused. Without that I can only see league 2 within 2 seasons . After that it’s as easy to slip further as it is to start the long climb back up.

For the past 10 years our owners have not been awful people. They really care about the club but their naivety has cost us dearly and has cost them a fortune. On the basis of be careful what you wish for, the only chance QPR has of surviving as a Championship club (or better) is for new owners to take over and soon

Prediction League not working
at 09:56 1 Aug 2023

For the past few days I've tried to enter my predictions for the Watford match but every time I get this message

"Sorry, you need to be a member of Loft For Words in order to participate in the Prediction League. Please click here to log in or here to register."

Now I am already signed in but the message still keeps coming back and so I cannot enter my prediction.

Is it my browsers (I have tried on Sarafi and Firefox on both Mac and ipad) or is it something on Loftforwords thats "broken"?

Anyone else getting this issue?

Their 2nd goal
at 08:47 23 Jul 2020

Our two defenders were totally lightweight at the touchline when the WBA player got the ball and headed goalwards.

Even worse was the reaction of Amos when the player broke away with the ball. He stopped, had a 'I give up moment' and then a few seconds later decided to start playing again. In my mind any player that reacts that way shouldn't be in the team. Loose the ball? Then flipping well try and get it back. Dont stop, have a strop and let the guy get away.

If you watch 'good teams' this just doesn't happen. loose the ball, then they fight immediately to win it back.

Amos isnt the only one guilty of this in our team but it was noticable yesterday.

I know we have a number of lightweights/barely Championship quality players in our team. I get that. I understand our situation but 'giving up' even for a few seconds is not acceptable , whatever your skill level.

Hopefully thats the last we see of him. His heart and fight is not in W12
