The problem is; do you play him instead of Mane, Elia, Tadic? Fair enough, Tadic hasn't been at his best for a while but I'd still put him in ahead of an out of practice Rodriguez. Even more so when you consider that we have no idea how much he'll be able to recover from that injury, whether he'll still have that pace and directness. He's not cut out to play up front on his own so he's not going to replace Pelle either. I'm not sure I can see where he fits in this team even if he is 100% recovered. |

Seems an odd signing altogether. I really think that Billy Sharp is a good enough player to score goals in the top league and would have him in the squad over Mayuka any day but I don't think we'll see him playing for us again. The good news about Mayuka I suppose is that he is only 22 and has lots of time and room to improve. Hopefully he'll turn out good. |

"Surely we deserve an explanation why he thought that he wasn't up to the job." Why? I can't see how that benefits anyone. I think that to come out and express Nigel Adkins limitations publicly would be a massive disrespect to him. I don't personally like the way it was done but it is done. And you don't sack the poor bloke and then list the reasons he's not good enough to the press! This way Adkins gets to go with his integrity and there won't be any shortage of job offers for him when he decides to get back into football. We all know that Adkins is a good manager at a certain level. That may even be PL level but it won't unfortunately be at Southampton. |
