Women are asking for compensation for equality. Everyone wants a free lunch off the Government it seems.

Women born in the 1950 s have equality in state pensions.

Correct when equality was announced us men were hoping we would get Equality with women and get our state pensions at 60. Even 5 years backdated pension of approximately £40,000.

No such luck.

Living longer is related to lifestyle choices so this arguement is not valid. One lifestyle choice I have taken is not drinking beer.

Strange you starting a new thread using exactly the same quote as you did in the Labour Party thread, do you normally repeat yourself?

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game

Equality, like free speech and justice, is a myth in the UK. All we do all the time is argue amongst ourselves and keep voting the same idiots in.

My wife is 7 years younger than I and will possibly live 7 years longer (by the stats) so if I live to be 74 she'll be around 14 years after me and until recently she could retire 5 years before me.
The change was needed, men were being hard done by. As usual though the government handled it poorly and caused this row.

Women in this day and age should have equality the darks ages have long gone its 2024 and women are finally getting the respect they deserve a lot do the work that men do I know a few women in my area of work who are excellent engineers and very thorough with their work.

People harking back in time whinging about women to when they were allowed to retire before men, self entitled indeed.
Of course they should retire before men they work then take time out to raise a family and all that entails, then most go back to work to right they should retire before men.

That is exactly right. It's not the leveling up that's the issue it's the way it was done. As agreed by the independent ombudsman. The government does not have to accept the ombudsman ruling, but they can be taken to court where the court is obliged to take the ombudsmans decision into consideration. As I have said on another thread, it will go to court, it just depends who is in power when it is settled. Then what will happen because many will have passed by then.

Not necessarily lifestyle choices. Men are taller and generally bigger and the science shows that the bigger you are, the more likely you are to die younger. Also men who are in their 80’s now are far more likely to have worked in environments where they were exposed to health deteriorating chemicals, including but not limited to asbestos.

Strange Netherlands has the tallest men in the World yet their life expectancy is higher than the UK which has smaller men.

I doubt life expectancy has anything to do with height, though it has been proven that being overweight, obesse, smoking and excessive drinking reduce life expectancy.

No it's not. Lifestyle has nothing to do with longevity for the average person. Keeping fit and clean living will improve your quality of life, but won't get you extra years

Women are basically doing the same jobs as they did 50 years ago. Men are still doing the difficult and dangerous jobs. Men are still doing the building work, fishing, Farming, truck driving, military and so on. Men will be out at 3 am gritting the roads, while women will be in an air conditioned office or building. It's their choice to have a family too.The workplace isn't a charity, employees are there to earn money for the company and men give far better value than women do.Facts btw not mysogyny
