Aston Villa Game Matchday Thread on 16:28 - Dec 7 with 997 views | NYC_Saint | We have no chance of winning or even drawing playing like this. Martin says he won't compromise on his philosophy, surely the ownership either doesn't want to win any games or does not understand a single jot about football. Complete waste of a Saturday morning watching this nonsense. If no one shows up to the next couple of home games, a full boycott, that would send the message. We really need ownership that actually understands football.

As the players seem to be Not allowed to shoot or even cross the Ball, that will be Hard to achieve. Even Dibling looks like a RM-coached Player now at Times. 4 shots in 80 Minutes is all you need to know (none on target).

To be fair, a couple of the blocked shots looked to be on target, but because they are blocked, they go into the the blocked shots section. Still, to only have 1 (blocked) shot for the whole of the 2nd half as we go into injury time, is absolutely pathetic. We created more away to City FFS. We are too scared to shoot or cross for fear of giving the ball away. Ridiculous and totally unacceptable. This isn't even fighting for our lives. Villa aren't great but we are worse and so frustrating. Cue..... How brave we were against a top side etc etc

Aston Villa Game Matchday Thread on 17:00 - Dec 7 with 720 views | grumpy | I have said time and time again,we have some decent players but the way they are coached we have no chance. Martin thinks he can walk the ball into the net unfortunately its at the wrong end.

Aston Villa Game Matchday Thread on 17:03 - Dec 7 with 690 views | City_boy | It was all so predictable. Trying to keep the ball at the back/midfield, but rarely got into any meaningful scoring positions. When we did, we tried to walk the ball into their penalty area, and no-one prepared to have go. Dibling was too wide for most of the game, but did move in mid way through 2nd half. As for Lumley, he just looks like a rabbit in headlights. Flapped at a number of crosses and positional play looked all over the place. Still, Martin will be pleased with the possession stats and fight, We rarely threatened and only had 4 (1 in 2nd half) attempts at goal, non of which were close.

Aston Villa Game Matchday Thread on 14:40 - Dec 7 by JoeEgg | Looks as impressive a team selection as is possible right now in what should be really challenging playing conditions. We have a real chance of getting something from this match if we dont throw it away with suicidal passing from the back. A real chance for Martin to get another stay of execution. If he blows this one he will out by Monday morning. |
will he though ? | | | |

Martin will either pull him off early or give him 10 minutes from the bench. Tall Paul will be expected to run from one side of the pitch to the other. The coaching is the problem and owners who cant see it.

I'm not sure we'll ever see Tall Paul again. They intend to sell him Iin January so don't want to risk getting him injured. And if he's got any sense he'll want to get out, he's been treated really badly by our club. He'll move on & score lots of goals abroad & we'll never know what he could have done for us.

On playing out from the back; "This is one thing that always does my head in, why don't teams ever learn that it's not something that will help them? It's not great coaching if you are forcing players to do what they cannot do. That's happening at Southampton now." Paul Merson BEFORE the match
