THB defending RM's insistence on playing Tippy Tappy out from the back. 09:45 - Dec 6 with 965 views | GRIM | Taylor Harwood Bellis has gone public with comments saying that the style they are playing is what they the players want. He backs RM's insistence on playing tippy tappy out from the back because as footballers that what they want. Come off it THB , footballers want to win matches & this ridiculous method of possession football doesn't win matches for us (it might for some teams but not us). If he is happy to continue losing matches & inevitably getting relegated then we're doomed. Or is he just saying this to appease RM.

THB defending RM's insistence on playing Tippy Tappy out from the back. on 10:10 - Dec 6 with 871 views | Ifonly | Think about it this way: imagine you're a good pro, but not elite. You're used to being bollocked by your coach when you slip up at the back. Then along comes RM who's all touchy feely, matey matey. He tells you you're good enough to play like Man City. Mistakes will happen but don't worry about them, just trust the process. Of course you'll want to believe him. Everyone likes to believe they're capable of being at the top level of their job. So they buy in to the bullshit. I think anyone would. But in their heart of hearts, they have doubts. They don't speak them, but the doubts are there. Then when the pressure is on, the doubts re-surface and mistakes follow.... If anyone stops and looks at the hard data, they can see this isn't working (after a year and a half) but players aren't exactly data driven and they don't want to be told "no you're not good enough to play that way".

THB defending RM's insistence on playing Tippy Tappy out from the back. on 12:44 - Dec 6 with 707 views | Ifonly | You can see that they don't actually look at the evidence when THB says: "They (i.e. the fans) would rather see a 4-3 win. As players that's not what you want, you want to control it. You want to win 2-0, solid. That's what we want as footballers." But the data says that everywhere RM has been his teams have conceded masses of goals. It's unarguable. It's there in black and white. Even last year, in his most successful season, we still conceded more than comparable teams. The league winners conceded 41. The sides who finished immediately above and below us conceded 43 and 47. We conceded 67. So, basically his defence of RM is bullsh1t. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

We have had differences in the past Ifonly with strongly held opposing views. However, on this one you are 100% correct, particularly in reference to goals scored against us. That said, TBH will not be a Saints player at the start of next season so it’s pretty irrelevant what he says now to be honest.
