Has there been a worse striker in a QPR shirt? The man is absolutely useless. We have had some poor strikers but i really think he is amongst the worst. I feel sorry for him. He should not have been bought. It is lamb to the slaughter. He is probably trying his best but his best is League 2 and not his fault. Nourry and Belk or whoever are to blame for him.

Adam Czerkas and Stefan Moore were both shockingly bad ... but I'd probably have them above Celar (just).

I’m sure I went to one game where Moore suddenly was quite good before going on to prove he was crap. Ipswich away maybe.

Moore Moore Moore, how do you like it?

Didn't make the game yesterday thanks to TfL but watched the 2nd half on a link when I eventually got home. I have also seen him several times when I have been able to get to the ground.

I do not know why we are making excuses about playing up front on his own, not suited to the physicality and it goes on!!!! The bottom line is he missed a penalty yesterday, that is 100% his fault but it happens, however much of his other play is or has been very limited indeed, pretty poor actually. I doubt he will ever be good enough to play Championship football in this country.

But it's true. We need someone to hold the ball up until our (relatively slow) team get up the pitch. Frey can do that, Lyndon (for all his failings) could do it. Celar clearly can't. His highlights reel comprises various goals from inside the area, barely any headers from what I recall. That's it. That's the player. It's not even like he's missed thousands of chances this season, is it? He's just the wrong player at the wrong time.

I feel sorry for him which is why we shouldn't be booing him. Ignoring the merits or failings of the Swiss League, the biggest problem is his lack of physicality. Anyone can miss a penalty but from that first game against West Brom, we've seen that he is not a physical old school number nine, which is what we need playing with one up top. That's clearly not his fault and is down to whoever recruited him to play in this system. And the change when Alfie came on and started roughing up their defenders was night and day.

Yeah, agree with this. We had 3 physical forwards in May, by August 2 had gone and replaced with a guy who is the exact opposite.
Just bizarre, and you've gotta feel for him.

I thought first 20 minutes Celar was pretty good but the penalty miss killed him and he went missing after that, felt for him, should never have taken it

Not being very good at football does not necessarily make him a prick or a cn ut. Some of the comments today were out of order. I love this place. I can't leave the house, so it keeps me connected. But come on...

I was going to say exactly this yesterday but thought better of it. The last time I said a player was being unfairly crucified I ended up receiving hostile pms and all sorts of abuse on here. Thats why I'm just a reader now. FWIW, I can't see how a public wittchhunt will benefit his confidence. Like it or lump it, hes ours and with a very small and limited squad, he will have a part to play, whether you like it or not.

Technology advances, unfortunately humans do not.

What player were you defending. Completely agree with you both by the way. Neither him or Madsen should have been booed either.

I think he totalled 7 touches in the whole game including the penalty miss. Marti was right to sub him and he shouldn’t start while Lloyd is fit and willing to run about for the cause. Hopefully, Celar will get a loan back to Switzerland at Xmas - Marti is done with him as are the fans.

Sofascore has it at 14 for Celar, which is still nor great. LLoyd had 14 as a sub.

Cannon, same position and role in the opposition, double the touches for five shots on goal, four on target and a goal.

Ya, the difference was stark.

Penalty miss aside, I actually thought that Celar was improved yesterday, but it's a low bar.

Celar did take a decent penalty against Luton in the cup.

I still can't believe the booing though - he didn't mean to miss! Also, nice to see Sam and Koki commiserating with him afterwards. Good team spirit.

I have watched Celar's penalty a few times now and I am actually wondering did he miss it on purpose. The keeper had pretty much dived the other way at point of contact of foot against ball and half a goal was open the side he placed the penalty. Either his nerves are totally shot or he wants out of this nightmare, which is my thoughts, possibly haven't we all at some time taken a job, either we hate it or are out of our depth and either we just don't perform or don't fit the role, I expect his representatives are looking elsewhere for him . His stats are roughly the same each game with the amount of touches he has, now that is a worrying statistic.

Hmmm, I didn't. And as has been noted elsewhere, his lazy stroll back down the field that got him flagged offside on the hour properly flipped Marti's cog and got him taken off.

There is no player in the history of football that miss deliberatly miss a PK and even more so when he/we are desperate for a goal to lift us .
I actually think his technique was excellent he should have just rolled the fcuking ball into the empty net insted of driving it hard and wide of course.
Like everybody says he should have never been allowed to touch that ball unless he was guarding the spot like most teams do nowadays then handed it to Madsen or anybody else .
Its hard not to feel a bit of empathy for him ,I suspect he was not signed to be the permanent starter due to injuries is now on an island playing poorly and there is blood in the water .Once again the fault lies at the top depending on this strikeforce was stupid and we are paying the price .
I am so happy I bet $100 on a top 6 finish in July

Just been watching some of his 2022/23 goal highlights, probably the same that our young DoF and head of recruitment watched and regardless of the standard of the Swiss league he is in, this is not the player we are watching at QPR this season. Shows pace and purpose off the shoulder of the last defender and at it in the box. Of all his penalties on the highlights of which there are about 5 all but one of them are struck to the left, he went right yesterday must have known in prep for the game that Stoke's keeper has a tendancy to dive to the right?

I didn't see that on the stream, being honest. Either it wasn't shown, or I was reading LFW.

Naturally, I don't get to see other crucial stuff like work rate off the ball etc.

We saw the moment Marti snapped with Celar today .

Being caught offside by simply being lazy enough to NOT get himself back on side after we’d humped another aimless ball forward was the final straw for MC.
He went utterly bonkers on the touch line and immediately waved for Alfie Lloyd to come back and get stripped off .

He took both of Celar and Madsen off as a bit of a statement to the DOF too. Enough is enough .
Expensive or not they are not doing it and I’ll play the youngsters .

Celar came off and kicked the dugout to pieces and whilst Madsen traipsed around the pitch after being subbed , a miracle happened…we scored.

He barely even glanced over his shoulder and showed zero emotion .
We are bottom of the league …your teammates have just scored!?!)

Nothing .

Tells you everything in my opinion .

At least the dugout will be fine as this 'striker' apparently can't ever hit anything he's aiming at

Shit but local

Interesting twist in the conversation. Is CN telling Marti who to pick in his team?
Earlier MF said Kolli was 'unavailable' for ?? I am not beyond believing Chair and JCS are being 'conserved' for the Jan marketplace.

There are some ridiculous suggestions in this thread.
Celar deliberately missed the penalty?
Chair and JCS are not injured and are being kept fresh to sell in January?

Agree we need him to hold up the ball. I wonder if he should just focus on improving that one aspect of his game and forget about everything else (like scoring goals, which seems an impossible mountain to climb).

What do we think his goal celebration will be if he does one day score for us?

It can't be too nonchalant because it would look absurd. But it cant be too frivolous, pretending to be airplane or something. Perhaps a primal scream, like an on pitch exorcism, an emotional outpouring like Stuart Pearce after his penalty in 96?
