On Twitter, I was getting halfwits like Darren Grimes and Laurence Fox shoved down my throat on a daily basis.
Great, so I'll block them. Unfortunately, I cannot mute or block their 500k followers and their endless Union Jack AI images and retweets.
It was an endless stream of poison, designed to whip up other halfwits.
So far on Bluesky, I've seen book reviews, retro football videos and a smidgen of world news.

Musk says he wants free-speech but doesn't. You only have to look at some of the threats he tweets to people/organisations or countries he doesn't agree with. | |

All these people who say, "I don't do politics", forget that politics will do you regardless.
Sure, I get you want to reduce the noise to zero. That won't happen, though.
For example, when the government regulator comes into force for football, you know it will fall short, and then the politics will start, and so on.
I think it's fine to reduce the noise of politics, but remember that sticking your head in the ground is still just doing that while the world still crashes into you.
What I am hoping bluesky will do is allow me to separate out blatant political threads from other ones like football; it won't eliminate politics. Now, you may say it does this already, but I want that service sustained. As we have seen with Twitter, things change when the rich snaffle it up. |  |

Interesting numbers, thanks. Not sure i fully agree with your conclusion, unless we believe that social media users (inc Facebook) are much more likely to skew left than right which feels unlikely.
I'd index against either the average or Facebook (by nature, less political....just) especially because both of these have a relatively similar profile.
With that context, Twitter skews right wing, insta and Facebook are pretty balanced and bluesky/threads skew way left. That feels about right?

You also need to factor in the people who would have seen this survey, likely to be people who follow Martin Lewis, and whether this affects the results.
When I use Twitter, I do see a lot of Trump centric posts/opinions (even though I don't follow Trump or right-wing accounts) but I would guess that a lot of those accounts wouldn't be completing this survey. | |

I don't understand all this social media. I'm in my 40s and I've never been on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram etc etc etc, and do you know what, I'm pretty chilled out.
I come on here for all things QPR, and get my news from The Guardian, Daily Mail and CNN so I can make my own mind up.
Just switch it all off, you'll feel much better, and the sun will rise the next day and the world will still turn.
Oh, and if you want expert opinions, reports and analysis then I recommend The Conversation UK. Pretty unbiased and gives a background to the main stories in the news. Link attached, happy reading everyone.
