Great news!

What a brilliant night it's turning out to be for Saints' fans. I know the opposition aren't as good, but most of the team starting tonight really do look better than the team that started against Forest. Wth Ramsdale in goal, we should have a realistic chance of staying up.

Great news at last someone of class in goal , whether he can play tippy tappy football we will have to wait and see but personally I think it’s a real bargain.
Someone the defence can trust.
And a permanent deal even better.

Seems to be £25m in reality so not such a bargain, but excellent news anyway. Will give the whole club a boost.

Why is not such a bargain?
Is not a player stopping goals going in as important as one scoring the other end?

because £25m is not such a bargain as £18m.

£25m is about a fair price.

Russell needs to be picking some of them to start Saturday tho!

That is great news and at a reasonable price too if structured over three years, probably 50% up front + 2 x 25% at a guess

Worth pointing out the permanent signing of Ramsdale means we still have one prem loan move available.

I am not sure about all of them looking better. But given that they have never played as a team before, some gaps might have been expected, and sure enough, there were. But one or two look to have pushed their cases for a start in the first team. Fernandez, Dibbling, Archer, Amo Ayew all looke like they could do something. Lumley looked like an outfielder deputising in goal. We surely must have better, even for a 3rd choice.

No, ALL of them did not look better. Lumley and several defensive players were poor. But, the midfield and attack looked better. I'd agree with you on Amo-Ameyaw, Dibling, Fernandes and Archer, and I'd add Taylor as well. I wasn't keen on the Archer signing, but he showed last night that he can play as a striker.

Anyway, at least we've got one good goalkeeper now, and we haven't been able to say that for a long time.

They will all be dropped on Saturday, for not following the party line and being more direct, creative, scoring goals and not all hugging the flanks.

Agree on defence. Not the best performance.

Ramsdale will be a quality addition we are crying out for. Given how much we have wasted on transfers in recent seasons, this looks like a reasonable deal.

If we get this over the line it’s a cracking signing. How long have we been crying out for a decent keeper?

Which it seems could well be Fraser.

Ramsdale is a Big upgrade on what we already have.
The only question is will he be able to play the RM system of playing out from the the back.
The reason Arsenal replaced him with Raya was because Raya is much more comfortable playing out from the back.
But we've got what we wished for now let's hope it works for us.

Ramsdale actually seems to be better at long passes.

He is very good at 40 to 50 yard passes.

He could transform our game in terms of beating the opposition's press.

I agree but will RM want him to play those 40 / 50 yard passes.
Providing RM let's AR play his natural game it'll help us BIG time.

I'm hoping he will instil confidence in our defence.
Lets be honest no one is going to say you don't know what you are doing.
