Aribo to Edozie breaking in to box but shot not quite good enough. Edozie's played well since coming on and been a threat.

Final whistle 1-1. Not bad for our second team. Another night could have been 1-4 to Lazio though.

Tonight was more like it.

A game played at a more reasonable pace.

However, Lazio allowed us a lot more time on the ball than quite a lot of teams will in the Prem.

Can expect a lot of them to press high against us, particularly if we have a keeper not comfortable with the passing triangles in our own penalty area.

Lazio did miss some absolute sitters, mind. We could easily have lost by 4 or 5.

One of the more entertaining pre season friendlies I can recall going to.

That must be a record for cards in a friendly match.

2 very good goals, Lazio should have put the game to bed in the second half but their cross bar challenge competition seemed more important to them.

Saints were very good in the first 30 minutes, but faded towards the end of the game, and the last 20 minutes were played almost entirely in our own half, with Lazio hitting the woodwork 3 times during the game. There were a lot of niggling fouls by Lazio, including 2 high kicks to the head. The first punch was thrown in the first half but several more were thrown in the second half, resulting in 2 red cards. There could have been more. The coaches, subs etc all piled on to the pitch to join in the melee.

The Lazio fans were in the new away corner, far away from any home fans, but seemed fairly happy. The Northam end got quite noisy after the fight started on the pitch.
The attendance was announced as 9,950, most of whom were packed into the Itchen stand, which was just about full.

Brereton-Diaz started brightly, but Alcaraz was our best player on the night, even though he got a red card. Dibling was played too wide out on the wing, so he was wasted. He needs to be more central. McCarthy made his usual shocking error but the Lazio player missed the open goal he was presented with and hit the post. On another occasion Manning saved him with a last ditch tackle.

Brereton-Diaz's goal was very good, but Castellanos' equalizer was even better. In fact it was so good that it drew applause from the home fans.

The phone scanning at the gates seemed to go without a hitch and the fencing around the stadium isn't anywhere near as bad as some people have said although there is a big caged area behind the Northam, which gets in the way a bit when the crowd is leaving. The programme, which is for both the Lazio and Getafe games, is still poor value for £3.50 as there isn't much in it about the visiting teams. As for the pink kit, it is very pink.

Poll: Who will win the Premier League this season?

Alcaraz mom despite being sent off but I liked his aggression so did RM by all accounts.

I thought Ronnie Edwards showed promise some good passing and positioning Wood was ok too.

Dibling and Amo Ayew again were good .

McCarthy not so .

Some of our passing and one touch football was good to see it was quick at times and the players seemed to know where they all were. Not sure they’ll get as much time in the prem though.

Having said all that it’s so obvious we need a keeper, another attacking midfielder and a decent striker. If we somehow manage that by the end of the window we could have a reasonable season if not probably flirting with relegation .

Poll: Would you take an Fa Cup win if it meant relegation to the championship ?
