West Brom Game Matchday Thread on 22:16 - Feb 16 by GRIM | Agreed, Stuie Armstrong was exceptional tonight, not just offensively but did brilliantly defensively as well. RM keeps proving us all wrong by getting results when we least expect it. Again his substitutions were made at right time & did the job. I thought Aribo was really good while he was on & great to see Brooksie get his first goal for us. Baz was taking liberties at times & Stephen's is a mistake waiting to happen. But overall good job well done. |
Thought Smallbone played really well tonight, cut out lots of balls and initiated some great attacking moves. Aribo did well along with Brooks. Sulamana is bonkers, and needs to keep to simple passing. Stephens gave me grey hair.

Leeds are playing Leicester soon so fingers crossed we might get the 4 point gap restored. Agreed SA was superb this evening. COYS

The subs were spot on. I really like Aribo, and think he adds some real bite and strength in midfield. Bree and Downes to come in too. Hugely impressive result away from home at a team who have won their last 5 games at home.

The two assistamts were doing a passable impersonation of headless chickens in the fisrt half hour. As they say, every little helps... West Brom Game Matchday Thread on 22:05 - Feb 16 by City_boy | Great performance tonight, with the exception of Stephens who on another night could have cost us. The messing around with the ball in the box and some of Bazunu's distribution left me shaking wreck at times. How we didnt get caught more often is beyond me. Bazunu did make a top draw save that helped keep us in front. I am not even going to try and analyse Sulemana performance - it was bizarre at best. MoM - Armstrong put a massive shift in tonight. how does stephen’s keep getting games, it may well cost us, we have got away with a few with him in the team that will change soon When will we learn we need better defenders than just two that said great performance overall nd hopefully put the wind up a few who thought we would drop off Now for Hull and that gap to open up Come on Argyle too!!!

I thought Stephens was ok, apart from a couple of sloppy passes, and he made a superb goal line clearance under pressure just before half time

Have to disagree on this one. Stephens got caught a number of times last night, especially with his marking of Jed Wallace. WIth better finishing this could have cost us. He struggles to read the game and ends up ball watching. He was also lucky to get away with a penalty which the officials missed. VAR would have given that, but I agree these things even themselves out. As for clearance, he did well to keep it out, but that didn't make up for all his other short comings during the game. I don't understand, why RM continually looks to find a slot for him, when we have better options. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Do we have better options ??. Name them. We are very short of full backs, if we get a couple more injuries then we'll be drafting in Academy players for crucial games.

We don't really have other options at the moment, so I can see why he dropped Manning (who has been poor). I agree, I'm not convinced by Stephens and hope that Bree comes back into the team, when he's available. But Stephens always gives 100 %, he made a great goal line clearance, but he makes mistakes. Yesterday, luckily it didn't matter. [Post edited 17 Feb 13:26]

We could always recall Perraud, or use Meghoma. Larios must surely be injury free by now FFS ? Bree will be back soon. Maybe Manning has had the kick up the arse he needed (again)

Leeds may well play Leicester next, but after that they've got it easy !! Leicester H Huddersfield A Stoke H Sheff Weds A Millwall H Watford A 4 teams currently in the bottom 6

They have a few tricky ones there. Huddersfield and Sheffield Wednesday away in Yorkshire Derbies and both sides battling for points to stay up. Watford away is not easy. Having said that, you would expect them to win those but I wouldn't say they are easy in the circumstances. It goes without saying that we need to beat Hull and Millwall. It wouldn't surprise me if Leeds beat Leicester at home. Let's see how Leicester do today, but they are still catchable. I would say we have the most difficult job out of all of the teams, with those 3 very tough away games Ipswich, Leicester and Leeds. But I'm sure there will be twists and turns. I still can’t understand letting Perraud go Massive error that

Larios is only 5 foot tall so he's got growing pains & unable to play. We won't see him until he grows to 6 foot.

I'd love to recall Perraud but I don't think we have that option in his loan period.
