In hindsight, and in the spirit of fairness, I would characterise his performance as less impressive than the time my 2 yr old son not only filled, but overflowed his potty with a stool that literally beggared belief, both in terms of sheer size and weight but also stench. Yes, this turd, equivalent in size to King Kong's finger, was of more value to the team and, bearing in mind I had to dispose of it, more amusement to me than his tenure as QPR's left back.

I actually saw him play, away versus Cardiff. He had very glossy hair. If I recall correctly, Holloway did at one stage describe him as the most unfit player he had ever come across.

Massimo Mauro it was. He looked good! It was around the time we were also being linked with Baggio on the back pages of The Standard in peak James Richardson Football Italia era. Great times.

Wasn't hard to terrorise Celtic in those days, they were skint and terrible while Rangers were throwing a lot of money about. Money it later turned out they didn't really have.

How would we feel if Bright Osayi-Samuel comes out and says he left QPR because of racist abuse? After all, he received that message that time after Norwich away (which it turned out came from somewhere in the middle east after some knobhead lost a bet, but still) so it's comparable to what German is saying in this piece. The club says further down "He was also booed on occasion during matches in the stadium, but that was due to the perceived (from the fans' perspective) lack of effort from Antonio during matches in a period where the team was not playing very well." Can't recall Damion Stewart or Zesh Rehman complaining of such problems over in Pahang. Seems unlikely to me that they would target German specifically for anything other than his lack of effort/performance, considering this club still has other black players on its roster even now. A few online comments crossed a line from a US/European cultural perspective (which isn't even the cultural landscape this incident occurred in, which I think is an important point to make, but the BBC doesn't) but to blame his failure in the Malaysian League on it is kind of ridiculous.
