I am not too concerned at this stage. There haven't been that many deals to date, and with a number of our players expected to attract big fees, the clubs interested will also want to tie up their transfers as well. For example, the Connor Code deal to Leicester, co-incided with Madison to Spurs.
The Declan Rice move (good business by West Ham), may also see some movement on JWP (whether it be West Ham or other).
Saints have always been very quiet on transfer news, which is one of the reasons I don't take all the players being speculated to come in/or leave seriously until they are done.
I agree, it would be better to get players in early, but it is more important to get the right players.

Our bloated squad is mainly full of players who won't be here in Sept as they want away (and will get their wish) and the ones we are desperately trying to shift. |  |

Leicester are in a better position than Saints in some ways because of the number of players that were released at the end of their contracts. Also in James Madison and Harvey Barnes they have two players who are definitely being sold and will address a significant part of the financial shortfall. Saints have six centre backs none of whom have definite buyers for reasonable money despite agent speculation so we aren't really in a position to bid for Connor Cody. Whilst I think we will get our money back on ABK, we could easily be stuck with the others. | | | |

I'm pretty sure that before we buy anyone, we will need to sell first.
This will give us some actual cash to spend, but also free up some space on the wage bill.
Leicester have just received some funds from the Maddison sale, so they are first in line. We don't have players quite that desirable, so we will have to wait it out. |  |

Leicester will have a team full of experienced players and proven goal scorers. We at least have lots of academy directors to analyse data and a guy who knows how to make hoovers. Totally agree with these concerns but we are definitely a bit stuck until we get players out of the door. Our unbalanced, bloated squad almost makes it impossible to know where to strengthen if sales don't happen as expected. Apart from at Left Back of course
At least if no one is going to Spurs, we might get exit deals done before the last minute of the transfer window
Lets hope SR don't buy more players for positions where we are overloaded again or that don't fit into Rusty's strategy | | | |

The club is first and foremost a commercial business.
You do not tell your competitors about the value you place on your assets because that gives them an advantage.
And Orsic?
Obviously was acquired but did not fit the plans of any of the managers. That might be fitness, quality, inability to play the system, etc.
We now have a new manager and he may see Orsic as part of his plans.
If so, he may get into a battle with the owners etc who clearly want to move Orsic on and see some money. | | | |

What exactly would you like the club to say, something along the lines of
Well we brought this useless pup for 8m, amongst a litter of useless pups btw, who's claim to fame was playing 5 seasons in the Croatian league (which is weak as p1ss) and we got hoodwinked in to buying him (by some useless scout, who hopefully not employed anymore) when Stevie Wonder would have seen he was never in a million years been up to PL level.
If we'd have said that, we'd not have been able to thieve 4m back from some Turkish mob, so happy days we didn't lose the full 8m, better than nothing eh?

I think we would have to sell him for £30 million to end up with £15 million from the deal.
It sounds a pretty complicated arrangement we have with Chelsea on this.
Just hope that Tino is grounded enough not to dig his heels in if we stick to our guns. It will get difficult if other players are sold relatively cheaply. | |
