What an absolute disgrace, over 700,000 on the waiting list, waiting times have increased month on month for the last 2 years.

Cancer waiting times worsen, 12 hour waits at A&E.

And these clowns who run it, want to add more members to the trough!

You couldn't make it up

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game

A pretty daming report for both Wales and Scotland.

Agenda boy much ….?
Only Westminster can run government … yawn …

Tell you what …. if Jacob Really-Smug and his like actually paid full taxes rather than think that tax avoidance is a clever game - albeit lawful - then everyone in the uk would benefit from the extra money that comes in.

That would be a real patriotism than we could all admire 🇬🇧.

Underfunding the NHS is deliberate to pave the way for privatisation.
Have no doubt about that.

The NHS is fully funded especially in Wales where it is fully devolved. The trouble is much of it was privatised by Blairs labour government which handed out PPI contracts build and run new hospitals giving the Private companies 15% returns on their capital investment whereas the government could have borrowed at around 3 to 4%.

The NHS needs root and branch reform to removed layer after layer of management to help it run efficiently.

People employed in NHS 1.4 million
Doctors 125,000
Nurses 300,000

Whilst not disputing the overall point that NHS reform is badly needed before any new money is pumped in, those staffing figures you quote appear a bit disingenuous.

A significant proportion of that extra 1m employees will be physiotherapists, radiologists, plebotomists and many other vital medical professionals without whom the doctors and nurses could achieve little.

You have correctly identified Labour's "investment" in the form of PPI as a massive scandal that in the long run has made the whining about the money spent on Test and Trace look like chicken feed, even if the true cost was £30bn+, which is isn't. Plus there are undoubtedly massive inefficiencies in management and processes which go hand in hand with being part of the public sector.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

All of that and, the breaking up of the NHS into trusts and then he devolved bits are a massive drain on finances, one central purchasing body could save god only knows how much by buying in massive bulks and distributing it which may also streamline the system and save money on staff costs, MAY!

There are definitely too many managers as well.

PFI, another scandal that the Senedd is busy using too, although they call it another name and try to make out it's a different, better thing but it's doubling the costs of everything they use it for.

Westminster bad, Senedd worse. How's that?

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

There is an NHS Wales shared services procurement team who negotiate contracts and prices, it’s the same across a lot of the public services. The police do the same thing.

Totally agree with you on PFI.

The trouble is far too many of that 1,000,000 total are just non essential and unessesary administration staff and managers who serve no useful purpose other than to keep their empires large just to justify their excessive wages.

Over 50,000 non medical staff earn over £100,000 and 1700 earn over £200,000.

The NHS needs root and branch reform with less management and savings used for extra doctors, nurses, hospital bed, accident and emergency units and the treatment of patients.

Non essential administration staff? Okay sack them all and let the Doctors and nurses spend all day filing patient records and booking appointments.

Yep, my wife is relieved that her main admin person is back next week as it has been a big struggle without her doing exactly that. They have coped for the weeks she has been off sick and it suggests that they aren't essential but other work is piling up in the background.

Britain’s first asylum camp - dubbed Guantanamo on Ouse - will get their own GPs and dentists under NHS plans. The 1,500 migrants aged 18 to 40 expected to be housed on a former RAF base in Linton on Ouse in north Yorkshire will have access to a “bespoke” health service comprising not only GPs and dentists but also chemists and opticians.

Having paid into NHS for 40+ years think I could get admission for NHS dentistry?

Never knew getting old would happen so quick!

Nice analogy, but the captain in charge of the Welsh NHS has lost the ability to use the rudder

One thing I do wish is that the NHS should be run as a whole from Westminster. It has become a fragmented organisation which devolved decisions only had to the chaos. The delivery would probably have the same results and would highlight the issues already highlighted in the differences in demographic etc. What it would show, however, is the lack of need of devolved decisions.

I agree , one procurement process of example could save money better spent on the front line. Singleton Hospital over the weekend had just 4 doctors in , with nearly all the wards full .Those doctors work dangerously long hours ,no wonder the retention and recruitment is so difficult

I think the fragmentation of the NHS between the devolved nations is probably the only stubling block in the way of further Tory privatisation.
I don't think Labour run the NHS well, but if the tories got full control god help everyone. We would have a USA style healthcare system in no time.

My wife works in admin and her esction of the department is officailly understaffed, my wife and her colleagues have all picked up extra work for no reward.

There will be some unecessary admin staff no doubt but the real problems are it's top heavy with managers, there is far too much waste, the pay packet is driving people away. When you see a nurse leave the NHS but then work for an agency on the same ward for netter money but with fewer responsibilities, it makes you wonder. Then I reckon people may be a bit concerned if they knew how many non medically trained staff are working on wards and doing a nurses job.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

No evidence of any Conservative privatisation of the NHS.
The largest privatisation of the NHS occured under Tony Blair, He got private companies to build new hospitals allowing them to make 15% return on the capital to build and run these hospitals for the next 25 years. It was called PFI, Public Finance, Initiative. This is privatisation just called by another name to keep it off Governments borrowing totals. The Government could have financed at a borrowing cost of 3 to 4%.

PFI was started by Major in the 90s.
The Health and Social Care act is a clear exmple of the Tory push to privatisation and the much more recent Health and Care Bill.
But yeh no evidence.
