How Do You Rate Michael Laudrup As A Manager For Swansea City ? on 13:33 - Mar 1 by Dr_Parnassus
That he had a marvellous all round record.
He had one of the worst league records in our modern history. Including comparing to multiple examples in the very same league with much worse squads.
Oh I see you are not addressing the points I've made the last few posts, league table relative, other teams treating Laudrups Swansea as equals not necessarily the case with other Swansea managers as Swans weren't seen to be as good.

His overall record is only 1.45 with us. That includes the three glorious promotions we had. So anyone comparing stats without the name would see a manager who had won three promotions, no major cups and even after achieving 6th place, had an average PPG record for us. Not the best ( which I expected to be the outcome ) So the stats that you use to show Laudrup as a poor league manager show Tosh as not much better than average league manager( and that is without looking at other managers we have not taken into account ) Also looking at the players and funds Tosh had his disposal between 1978 and 1982, would critics have expected better value for money ? Just goes to show how twisted your view is. Most posters ( who have voted) have a good opinion of Laudrup. No one would ever view Tosh as less than the greatest manager for us
What do you mean “only”?
That’s not bad at all considering 3 poor seasons at the end.
1.45 points per game is 66 points per football league season, that would get you pushing for playoffs every single year. That’s excellent over the course of 6 seasons.
1.13 over the course of 18 months is awful. Which is why he was sacked.
If Toshack had 1.13 points per season he would not be seen as one of our greatest managers and would not have got any of the promotions. The fact is however he did.

That’s not his overall reign though is it.
If he came in and just had the three seasons you refer to, then he wouldn’t have been a very good Swansea manager. (Similar to Laudrups record).
Thankfully he is a good Swansea manager so achieved 3 promotions, 3 cups and nearly went at 1.5 points a game overall.
So judging Laudrup on the same criteria, overall he went at 1.13 points per game and had one of the worst overall league records of any manager managing over 6 months in our modern history.
Pointless just taking Toshacks bad bits. Judge overall like we are with Laudrup.

BTW you honestly comparing 3 Welsh Cups won after pllaying against usually lower league opposition, to a cup win after beating Liverpool and Chelsea ( not to mention proven giant killers Bradford ) ? You are having a laugh - again

Well yes there is nothing to address, I disagree entirely.
Which is why he was sacked and why he was going at less than a point a game for more than half his reign, and just over a point a game for the reign in it’s entirety.
It’s not difficult.

Comparing? In what way?
I’m stating a fact, he won 3 cups and 3 promotions and went at 1.45 points per game.
Laudrup won 1 cup (4 rounds of lower league opposition and the final against a league 2 side) and went at one of the worst league records of any Swansea manager in recent history.
We are going round in circles here squire aren’t we.

So Tosh is let off ( in your eyes ) even though he had two bad seasons ? The stats ( which prove nothing about any manager including Laudrup) show Tosh as our 5th best manager on your list. So am I to take it you think Martinez, Rodgers, Cooper and Souza were better managers for us ? You and your theories and opinions are a joke

The stats show Tosh has 3 promotions, along with 3 cups, along with 1.45 points per game. It’s all taken into consideration. Anything that shows consistency as opposed to short term form, is considered.
Martinez and Rodgers could certainly stake a claim for being better managers, although Rodgers didn’t show much longevity as he wasn’t here very long.
Sousa didn’t show longevity, he only had one season and achieved no play offs, no promotions. So that doesn’t compare to someone who had 3 promotions and 3 cups.

Laudrup departure was more down to off the field than on the field initially the Bayram Tutumlu situation, Monk and Chico clash, going to Paris and giving the players time off, Swansea had hit the big time, Swansea was treated as equals amongst the big clubs, Swansea board acted as equals and thought they could get rid of star name Laudrup with the team 12th in the league and in the FA cup and in the knockout stages of Europe and continue their success, it wasn't the case unfortunately.

It wasn’t.
Tutumlu cut ties in June from memory, Laudrup was sacked the following February.
Laudrups off field lack of interest was showing on the pitch, hence why he was sacked. If he was galavanting to Paris and winning every week, there wouldn’t be too much of an issue.
He was sacked because his last 35 league games yielded 33 points and we were showing tactically inept performances and embarrassing showings, cultivating in the West Ham debacle where he finally lost the dressing room.

4 rounds I said, I didn’t specify which…. And the benefit of playing a league 2 club in the final.
Not sure which bit confused you.
I’m not belittling anything, I’m stating a fact. We had 6 rounds, 4 of which were against lower league clubs and had a final against a league 2 club.
I think you creating a million threads on the same subject is a sign of you losing it personally. Nothing is changing, I’m afraid the more threads you make won’t add points to his record.
It will remain among the worst in our modern history whether you like it or not. You are just doing to have to start facing it I suppose, because it won’t change.

They weren’t.
Boro, Bradford, Crawley and Barnsley were though.
We definitely did well to get past the two teams you mentioned. Doesn’t make him a great manager though sadly.
Paul Clement beat similar teams.
Gosh you actually admit you were wrong then when you posted
"Laudrup won 1 cup (4 rounds of lower league opposition and the final against a league 2 side) and went at one of the worst league records of any Swansea manager in recent history." It does say 4 rounds plus a final doesn't it ? Thought you were claiming Liverpool or Chelsea as one of your 4 lower league teams ?

Nope, 4 rounds against lower league opposition (didn’t specify which), and the final being against a league 2 team.
It does not say 4 plus one, no.
If I said I completed 4 obstacles and had my hands tied behind my back, that would not mean 5 obstacles. The “and” would be part of the 4.
You read it wrong. It’s ok.
Laudrup still has among the worst league records in modern history though, changing the subject won’t help I assure you

Or you just don’t understand simple concepts.
You accused me of editing a thread that wasn’t edited yesterday and asked a mod to remove your thread due to the embarrassment.
You would have thought you would have learned your lesson by now. You won’t win squire.
What are you changing the subject for You made a mistake by trying to belittle Laudrup's achievement winning a major cup against two EPL teams en route, and suggested we had beaten five lower league teams in total Between that and the Laudrup poll and you painting yourself into a corner with your opinion, you are having a mare Take a break mun

I’m not changing the subject, you are trying to (and failing). I can’t help it if you misread my posts.
I didn’t belittle anyone, I stated a fact. 6 rounds, 4 rounds of lower league (not specifying which one) AND the benefit of a league 2 club on the final. If you don’t understand that then that’s your issue I guess
A poll means nothing. I just showed you 81% thought Dracula was the wrong answer, it wasn’t, because facts aren’t decided by committee.
For the third day straight, you are losing the plot…. And Laudrup STILL has among the worst league records of any Swansea manager in modern history.
