Knee booed by horny fans? on 15:55 - Jan 1 by Dr_Parnassus | Socialism leads to a lack of incentive to improve lives, it hampers innovation and lessens productivity. There is also a clear path from socialism into communism, especially under the current movement where there seems to be a desire to police thought, police speech and promote identity politics above all. There has not been a clearer path to communism in my lifetime in America than now. Which is a scary thought, and why latinos came out in force to vote against the Democrats. Many of them coming from South America know exactly what it’s like to live under the suffocating rule of communism and socialism. [Post edited 1 Jan 2021 15:55]

Socialism doesn't lead to a lack of incentive to improve nor hampers innovation, it leads to equality and social justice, education, housing and heath would be available for the masses. Those Latinos just like the Cubans in the sixties in are seen by many as traitors to their countries, not everyone has the ability in some cases, means in other cases and contacts in other cases to get up and go only the few were able and willing at the expense of the rest of the population often at the alter of greed.

Well the extreme mode of socialism - known as communism, historically has been responsible for the murder of an estimated 100 million people. I’d say that was pretty dangerous.

Communism/Marxism is a million miles from Socialism. Just because the Bolsheviks used Socialist in their name for their communist empire doesn’t mean they practiced socialism. They practised totalitarianism . Socialism allows individual ownership of property etc etc

Extreme forms of any political movement creates its own problems. Capitalism and right wing plolicies has led to the deaths of 100s of millions and subjugation of umpteen generations and whole nations. Christianity and those who used its name committed genocide on three continents. Other organised religions not much better. Socialism seeks to minimise inequality and raise the standards available to all not the few.

Your grasp of history is a bit suspect. For all its evils, fascism doesn’t even get out of first gear when it comes to mass murder compared to the murderous deeds of Stalin, Chairman Mao, and other evil proponents of the most bankrupt evil doctrine ever perpetrated on humanity - communism. Our schools do a lousy job of educating a generation that fortunately will never have first hand knowledge of this miserable murderous doctrine.

Bollocks. When our players take the knee for a few seconds you think they're signalling a wish to get rid of the police? Or for the UK to become a Marxist society? Of course they're not. They're sending out a signal of opposing racism. People are deliberately conflating it with Marxism and all the rest as an excuse to oppose it. Simple as that.

I’ll tell you exactly what I think, Hump, there’s a calculation behind this that says if we can get the sheep to perform the dance we can get them to appreciate the music later. It’s an exercise in envelope pushing.

Right. So one minute it's taking the knee, the next they'll be collectivising farms. Well we're not going to agree so there's no point in us going on about it over and over. Other than to say that sounds like the paranoid rantings of a madman.

If Gramsci was a madman perhaps you’re right, Hump. Personally I don’t think he was, I think he was quite extraordinarily perceptive, and it’s his path to hegemony that stretches out.

No it doesn’t. That’s an uneducated, rose tinted and inaccurate view of socialism and communism. One that does not work, hasn’t worked and hasn’t been represented wherever it has gone. It’s pure fantasy.

It doesn’t matter what they are doing it for, the action is synonymous with the far left political group that is currently causing havoc in the west. You can keep saying it’s “an anti-racism gesture” and pretend if anyone opposes it then they must be racist. But I’m sure by now you have realised that is not the case. There is no conflating. The black power fist and the knee are as synonymous with BLM as the Nazi salute is to Hitlers mob. It really is that simple. If it was about anti racism then why continue to use a gesture that many see as clearly political and can demonstrate clearly it’s obvious and clear links? Nobody can seem to answer that one. Isn’t it more important to get everyone on board? Isn’t that the whole point of it, unity? It’s becoming more likely that it is those with left leaning ideals that are pretending the fist and the knee are not synonymous with the the extreme left political movement in order to continue to demonise people and fuel their need for virtue based conflict. That seems far more likely than decent people being secret racists to me, including many African Americans who make exactly the same points. Strange that African American voices are being ignored that are explaining exactly why BLM and these gestures aren’t helping and should be opposed. Black people are ignored and white people are labelled racists when it’s pointed out. Just weird. [Post edited 2 Jan 2021 1:03]

Every single thing you have that has improved your and your family’s life was the result of capitalism. I love iPhone communists and socialists. Systems that have caused destruction and financial failure everywhere you look. I saw something the other day with one of those angry University types screaming at some guy as to why capitalism is evil while sipping on his Starbucks latte and his iPhone 12 in his hand. It’s embarrassing, it really is. Communism stifles every form of innovation or incentive you could have and the country quickly goes backwards. What incentive is there for high productivity? hard work? Entrepreneurial activity? There isn’t any. The country immediately slams on the breaks on its economic growth. It has less money, meaning all your public services decline and so do the quality of goods. Gradually everybody’s quality of living decreases and decreases until there comes the unrest which can then lead to communism. Either way it’s an awful idea that hasn’t worked anywhere for obvious reasons. For an idea that has failed absolutely everywhere, it’s amazing that people still hold on to it as a viable way forward. Excellent! The best summing up I’ve had of communism goes ‘a communist is someone who has bugger-all and wants to share it with the world’. A cursory study of history shows that communism has achieved nothing and produced nothing, and all at a cost of unimaginable misery, death and depravation. How much more proof is needed that it doesn’t work? Our schools do a lousy job of educating each generation in the realities of totalitarian command economies. As a result we have these same arguments over and over to prove the same point over and over - communism does not work.

How come Russia won the space race then ?, without checking it was something like first rocket in space, first man (woman and animal) in space, first spacecraft landing on the moon etc etc, can't be arsed to check. How come the Cubans are world leaders in doctors and medics on the ground ? Does China often come out as one of the smartest countries in the World by various measures ? Anyone wanting to know what socialism/collective ownership of the means of production ,should go to Berlin and check out the Museums to the DDR. Big brother telling you what to do with no nasty opposition,no vile scum offering a different view from that of the State ,that decides who gets what in the country. Our feckless clowns would have coroneries if they had to live under a State System which meant you were "provided" for in relation to your job status and usefullness to the State . The masses overturned it ,mainly a they were hungry. Not a McD in sight too. Also see,Hungary,Czech,Russia,Romania,Poland ,Slovakia, and ask the people about "socialism" in practice. We are so utterly spoiled in this country.
