Hopper and Gillham on with Rathbone & Keohane off. Rathbone may have tweaked something but hopefully just off as a precaution

Does it matter? If the answer was the former were you expecting goals?

Technically i suppose it is a first team game, but the oddity is how it's clearly not a first team game for City, or other U21 sides in the competition How can it be for one, and not the other?

Finished 2-0. We almost surprised City under 21 last season, but this was a comfortable win for them. The last 10minutes we had a few attacks but they looked to have stepped of the gas. Rathbone given MOM but I thought our keeper looked OK. All in all you would expect City Youth to be a step above ours and that proved to be the case. A good run out & hopefully Rathbone is OK for the weekend Apparently Thomas is only just 15 and couldn't have played about 3 weeks ago as 14 year olds are excluded. He actually had a few decent touches in the short time he was on. Back to school tomorrow !!!

The Bradford fixture is not noted on this site so just looked it up too (it's in November)......although we are bottom of this mini league we can still progress if we can win away at VP and beat Bolton at San Spotty and Citeh stuff them both. Not all lost yet

Great achievement for the lad. At the same age my achievement was to get served a pint in the Roebuck. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

A draw at VP (with a penalty shoot out win) and a win v Bolton could be enough.

Either way would it still be classed as his debut thus becoming the youngest player to err debut for Dale?

Citeh U21s Match Thread on 23:44 - Sep 11 with 2510 views | Sandyman | City best team and deserved to win. Jim Mc was MOTM for me. Didn't put a foot wrong. Like an old school reserves game in atmosphere. Nice to have a team to watch, unlike some who think their clubs are as big as Man Utd and Liverpool and have nothing to watch . Pass the handcuffs
Citeh U21s Match Thread on 00:10 - Sep 12 with 2449 views | kiwidale | At a different level Harvey Elliot made history when he became the youngest ever Premier League player at 16 years and 30 days old. The England under-17 midfielder made his first appearance in the 88th minute of a game between Fulham and Wolves in May 2019. Elliott became Fulham's youngest player in September 2018 in the Carabao Cup at just 15. He had broken the previous record by 38 days. How old years and days is Peter Thomas? according to Nigeria Mark Thomas is only just 15 and couldn't have played about 3 weeks ago as 14 year olds are excluded.

You should`ve gone to the Tanners. My brother and his mate were getting in there when they were only 15,still going to Heybrook School. He already had long sideburns by then,I was still struggling to get in any pub at 19 as I was rather short at one end. Still am by the way!!
Citeh U21s Match Thread on 07:45 - Sep 12 with 2082 views | EllDale | Used to be able to get into the Red Lion on the corner of Lord Street and Newgate at 15. The landlord must have had us sussed though because about four used to go in at the same time and all buy a pint of mild individually after asking what was cheapest! I could get served in the Globe on Whitworth Road as well but that's because my mate was the landlord!

Apart from giving the ball away when their lad should gave scored and hit the post Jim was solid. 2nd to Keohane for me, played well at left back and threw in some nice blocks. They were better than us, they were so quick to get back and in position after theyd lost possession that it baffled pur younger players a bit and slowed us down too much. We were never really dangerous tonight but its a run out for some of the younger ones. After seeing some of them last night you can see why Matheson is so highly thought of and able to play League One games already, he was streets ahead of the rest of them.
Citeh U21s Match Thread on 09:17 - Sep 12 with 1870 views | D_Alien | The Kingsway used to run a 'disco' in the function room on Friday nights. Me and my mate Jed (son of the council Chief Exec) started going there at 15, then added the disco at De La Salle (now Hopwood Hall, Middleton) on Sunday nights to our schedule. No idea where we got the money from, but ale was cheap; summat like 16p a pint at De La Salle since it had a student union subsidy. I remember sitting my mock English GCE on a Monday morning with a serious hangover

Yep, he lived in a huge house in Castleton near the motorway bridge We started a rock band in the sixth form at Bishop Henshaw, but then i buggered off to Rochdale College. He continued with another band, and then became a teacher, Tech Drawing I think. Last time I saw him was at a school reunion about 25 years ago now. He was a deputy head by then

Citeh U21s Match Thread on 10:05 - Sep 12 with 1725 views | SuddenLad | He used to let us use the scout hut opposite Tesco in the summer. He snaffled the keys from someone or other and we used to spend all day in there during summer, getting up to all sorts. He was always driving his Dad's flash motor while he was away. Unknown to his Dad of course !! Glad to know he's had a successful career. Thanks.

He got wed to Eva Price, daughter of the then head of Rochdale Social Services, but it didn't last long. She used to tinkle the ivories at the Piano Bar, upstairs in what was Dukes nightclub, aka The Wellington Both he and I were never ones for following convention, but i expect that made him a pretty good teacher. None of the kids would've been able to pull a fast one - we'd done it all years before - but he'd have known how to deal with kids with a similar outlook
