Spoon released their 9th album last Friday. Their consistent high quality is nothing short of remarkable over 20 odd years. Yeah ok I'm a little biased but...........

Having purchased 'Dread Time's today on your recommendation. I am well into it at the moment as it seems to be old school Dreadzone again. Maybe Don Letts is back?
Just been listening to the All Songs Considered podcast (which is brilliant btw), and their report from SXSW where Grandaddy were playing some new stuff, it sounded good.
Came across Michael Kiwanuka on a Spotify radio station and was playing all weekend.
Hoping to see him in July.
The missus got really into him after he was nominated for the Mercury last year. I wasn't so keen at first but the album's grown on me, the opening track Cold Little Heart in particular (after the very long intro!).

A very underrated artist. When he "Cracks" America, everyone in the biz will claim to have always been there for him.
The 2nd album reminds me a lot of Marvin Gaye in places.

October London's album Color Blind is Marvin Gaye reincarnated.
Played it to many folk who have guessed Marvin as the artist. Discovered by Snoop Dogg of all people.
Well worth a spin.
Very nice. There is a heavy Marvin Gaye influence there that doesn't alienate people not usually into soul music. All are welcome.
The "Slow Dance" track is very similar to St Paul and the Broken Bones. Check them out if you care too.
'Love in the Summer' is pants so is 'Black Man in America" but that could be down to my dislike of the use of the N word. (plus those two song(s) aint all that anyway) but the rest is a a very good album that may go under the radar which will be sad.
Good shout though as I would never have had a clue about October London.
On Youtube there is 15 minute film worth checking out.

The Don does indeed co write a song on the album, either 16 Hole or Black Deus (sorry, my memory fails me), anyway it sounds very B.A.D.

Cigarettes after Sex are finally getting around to releasing an album, in June. I think that they are very good and their name is pretty clever. Could be a biggie.
