So when was it and who were we up against?Did it affect the result? Probably the loudest I remember, back in the mists of time when we were pressing for the title and we played Arsenal, just shaded it.Incredible noise.
Preston- when blackstock scored and the 12k of us willing the team on the last 10 minutes was special
Crystal palace 99 when we stayed up
Swindon before the Sheffield wed promotion game
Leicester when we won 3-2 after being 2-0 down was excellent we sucked the ball in the net that day for the winner
Crewe when we had 9 men the ER was rocking when we were hanging on chanting we are QPR
Stoke when Houston had been sacked, "Johnny hollins blue n white army " non stop for about 30 minutes
West Ham 87 after the dodgy tickets FA cup tie
Stoke in 02 a team full of trialists and free transfers beating the league favourites , we were hanging on at the end the cmon u rs In the last five minutes was spine tingling
Luton when we sent them down in 07 the furlong header
Luton 86 or maybe 87 FA cup , a proper nasty atmosphere that night
And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles

Wigan semi for me. The build up with the blue and white plastic sheet things and the deafening sound of come on you r's from the whole ground. Very very special night.

As everyone else says: Oldham. I lost my shit even more with the Mackie v Liverpool goal, but that was partly because it was 10 minutes of frankly unbelievable viewing. But Oldham was the best. I always describe it like this: When an atmosphere is really good, you're shouting to the person next to you, and there are two sounds: the sound of people in your vicinity, and then a background roar of everyone else. The reason it's unlikely to ever get better/louder was because of the context: We had been dire for around 7 years. And the way the second half of that season went was like the most dramatic end to a season you could have, where, because Tranmere were chasing us so well, even one game lost might have blown it. And we kept winning and winning and fighting and clawing and scratching. God knows how many late winners we got then - it felt like every bloody week almost. And all of that, plus the frustration of seven years of absolutely dire football, plus Olly, plus all the QPR fans in the team, plus our financial issues etc etc all came together in one 90 minutes. I remember going to the ground and EVERYONE was up for it. Oldham played well, but they never stood a chance. What a night. The best ever. In a minority, but it was better than Wembley for me.

chelsea then oldham chelsea was pure utter hatred mata had 3 corners on the spin refused to take the 4th then went off not long after with a shoulder injury or a seepage issue with his pants.
Oldham pure emotional joy, panic, you name it all thrown into the last 5 mins when daisy made that save feck me never known anything like it , I remember holding my breath at the start of the move for furlongs goal
one blast from the past was the newcastle 5- 5 all game even at half time a few hardy soles thought we arent dead in this , when we equalised for the umpteeth time I cleared the wall of ellerslie in one fell jump ( i was skinnier and fitter then)
Quite a few people left the 5-5 at half time when we were 0-4 down. I bet they have never forgiven themselves! Would have been a whole lot louder had they all stayed. Still the most incredible game I have ever been to.
The Arsenal game in the FA cup in 1990 was a great night. Torrential rain and then the Sansom goal. I had recently met a girl who would go on to be my GF for a few years. She wasn't at all interested in football and I jokingly asked her if she wanted to come to the game. She said yes and absolutely loved it. 6-0 v Palace was also pretty loud and the tension was palpable until we scored.
Palace QF in 82 has been mentioned a few times. Was in the paddock seats with my dad when Clive Allen scored and ran down to the away end to give it to them (they had been giving him stick all game). They spent the rest of the game trying to invade the pitch and singing "you're gonna get your fcking heads kicked in". It kicked off afterwards on the pitch but we were on our way by then.
The old Chelsea boxing day games used to be pretty noisy. Very large away contingents in the days when Chelsea was a real club.
Millwall FA cup in 95 with the last min Clive Wilson penalty. That was intense and the wild celebrations that met the goal were mixed with feelings about how things might be outside. Turned out ok though. Millwall were always really loud.

He's got bird shit on his head.....
Now that was funny-and loud.
5-5 was amazing but not loud-only 15,000 or so there to start with.
The 1990 Arsenal game for me. The Sansom goal was incredible. I can remember the roar now.

Yes agree with all of the suggestions
My last game at home was Swindon before the Sheff Wed game - excellent atmosphere
Stoke in the rain with Johnny Hollins Blue and White Army -small but noisy and hostile crowd
Arsenal West Ham Luton Palace cup games
Obviously Oldham and Chelsea games stand out too When Fat Frank went to take the corner at the Loft end the abuse he received was terrific
When I was much younger whenever we played a London Derby at Loftus Road - Spurs was a good one 2-2 draw from memory - probably around 1985 - crowd was over 27k
Chelsea when we beat the scum 4-2 - when Les Ferdinand banged a couple in
Night games are normally good at Loftus Road too

One for the older fans League Cup 1967 v First division full of internationals Leicester one of the most memorable nights of my time at HQ
Yup - that's the one for me. The night when the penny dropped that we actually had an emerging team that could beat anyone. And that was four goals put past World Cup winner Banks in his prime too!
As soon as Leicester equalised, we pulled one back. Dougan was brilliant for them, but we had Marsh,Lazarus and Allen on top form that night.
It was one continual wall of sound that dragged Rangers onto greater heights. They have never played better.
I went to work the next day with no voice, bet others in the crowd were were like that.
Why does it feel like R'SWiPe is still on the books? Yer Couldn't Make It Up.Well Done Me!

That was a special night, first time I'd experienced a 20,000+ crowd at the old place. The noise was all the more remarkable in that there was no SAR stand and it was open terracing. You could tell it was big crowd the way people were ranked across the top of the bank as you walked up from White City tube.It raises goose bumps just thinking about it all these years on.
Far from the noisiest because there was only about 12,000 there, but fck me we were the 12th man. Night game against PNE, they were pushing for promotion, we'd started well to the season but had one loss after another and were sinking fast heading for a relegation battle. We turned the season around that night, urging them on and Blackstock did not disappoint. Freezing cold night in west London, Ainsworth was immense and with not many there it felt like our core support turned up just in time to salvage the season. Placed fcking rocked when Blackstock scored. And Ainsworth came and acknowledged the support in Ellerslie at the end. Lives long in the memory that one. Real backs to the wall stuff and dug out a vital 3 points and restored some long gone confidence.

One that's not been mentioned, probably because it wasn't for whole game.
But 10 mins before kick off and then when we scored v Leeds after the Faurlin "no points deduction" news came through.
Not the BEST atmosphere but the strangest build up and start to a game ever. Leave home, not sure if you're promoted, get to the ground , find out you are, score after 20 seconds, then lose the match and celebrate promotion
That day rather sums us up don't you think!

Nothing to beat Oldham, but there were some great days the season after - beating Plymouth and Wednesday were fantastic, passionate afternoons. 5-5 with Newcastle, was great; quiet as the grave until the boos came at half time, but they were cheered out for the second half and it went from there. Another random day that sticks in my mind was a particularly frustrating game against Norwich (New Year 1989?) when Mark Falcons finally bundled in an equaliser in injury time after we'd roared ourselves hoarse for the last half hour.

Yep that was the night. I think the first and only time I've sat in R block.

The Millwall game wasn't the noisiest but it was one of the scariest, especially after the way we celebrated Wilson's last minute goal.
For reasons I couldn't fathom at the time, my mate and I found ourselves sat next to four Millwall fans in Ellerslie Road, near to the Loft. At least one of them had tattoos on his knuckles and my mate was West Indian, so when we got the last minutes penalty we whispered to each other that we must keep calm if Wilson scored. That was our plan and we'd be mad to change it - if Wilson scored, we could celebrate after the match away from any gutted and angry Millwall fans. So, we sit there in silence and wait, Wilson walks up and buries the penalty. And what do we do...?
We go absolutely mental, I shout myself hoarse and find myself shaking a QPR fan in front of me who is equally ecstatic, forgetting all about the Millwall fans right next to me. We just couldn't help it and that shows just how football can affect you - the brain tells you one thing, the heart tells you the exact opposite. And we didn't get to many cup quarter finals even back in 1995.
Anyway the Millwall fans just sat there quietly but to this day I have never left the ground so quickly. I still feel bad that I didn't stay behind to clap the team, but in fairness we robbed Millwall on the day so it was probably for the best!
