I think it was both. Hughes sat there every week going on about his 'meticulous planning'. He may have done good things in terms of the facilities etc but he was putting all that planning into a load of lazy, overpaid, brand name kunts.

It's been said before that he can't be trusted with money and there was a clear example with us. And Tony was all for it obviously because it helped him with his fcuking global brand. "Would you like me to buy the aging Park Ju Sung for you Mark? If I throw enough money at him might pretend to be interested." Bag of balls. Fcuk the pair of them for that.

That's exactly my conclusion too.

Hogan clearly liked him, but his praise is all about the improvement in training, which obviously affected him directly. That's quite interesting to read as it comes from a competent witness. Fair enough and a credit point to Hughes.

He doesn't talk about the terrible transfer policy because it didn't directly affect him. But when you read him saying that he can't blame either the owner or the manager, he's left blaming the players for not doing their best. At that point you have to blame the manager for signing them and the owner and CEO for letting him do it.

Hughes was the first QPR manager ever to be given a chance to spend big in the top flight and he blew it massively. In the context of that never-to-be-repeated opportunity, that was a massive managerial failing that no amount of dietary advice can outweigh. So I think Hogan's news are interesting but I'm not sure he sees the bigger picture

Well it shows that Hughes, when he has a proper set of owners with proper football knowledge, can excel. Fernandes and Phil Beard are a disgrace compared to someone like Peter Coates.

I always liked Hogan and thought he was an honest player who always gave his all. Having said that, we probably paid him something like1 -1.5million in his 6 years at the club (3-5K a week) so I can't say I feel bad at how he got treated.

The article sheds some interesting light on what goes on behind the scene. I have always thought the we are way to quick to fire a manager when things aren't working out. Everyone knows that it takes years for a manager to truly bed in and have success, but as soon as things go badly everyone wants the current manager out and a new one in. Look how long it took Alex Ferguson to have success. If he had been fired after one bad year, how many championships and other silverware would Manure missed out on?

Edit -- I don't mean to sound like I think we should have given Hughes more time -- he ruined the club. I think we should have given Warnock more time the first go round. Alec Stock had 9 years as manager. When was the last time we had a manager who even lasted for as much as a couple of years? We have had something like 17 managers over the last 9 years.

I know that I'm probably in the minority of one but I think Redknapp was by far worse than Hughes. He did'nt give one flying f'ck about us. We were just a pension top up for the c'nt. His disdain and boredom for us oozed out of every pore. I hate the c'nt.
Okay Hughes might of not held us in the same regard as Citeh and thought he was above us but he was bothered about his carreer .He did care.He could've been reigned in if we had a Chairman or Director of Footy with some knowledge. He can manage without splurging when he has too .He has proved that at Stoke ..and Fulham.
Redknapp though did not give 2 flying f'cks. And he was going to roll that dice .That very expensive dice. He proved he was'nt up to the job unless he had unlimited funds to buy his bizzare old boy signings. He walked as soon as it was clear he had been sussed and had no more money to spunk.
Yeah Hughes f'cked up bigtime, monumentally ,and is a c'nt of the highest order but I remember people saying SWP ..great signing ..Hoilet ..Great signing . Even that Chelsea waster c'nt Bosingwa was hardley the most unpopular signing at the time. People keep going on about the 'meticulous
planning' but that would be the same 'meticulous planning' he is doing at Stoke.
Redknapp though was always going to fail , we all knew it because even how rich we were it was never enough money for that lazy ,dodgy c'nt. We were always just a niggling stop gap to his retirement . Like a tradesman going into the stores for the last couple of years before he gets his bus pass.
Yeah Redknapp bought Charlie but don't forget his 1st option was Hooper.
And yeah he got us up but lets not kid ourselves , that promotion was like this Olympic final.

Rangers are the Australian fella btw..

Yes, you probably are in a minority on this one.

-- Hughes got us relegated, brought SWP to the team, and got us madly in debt for years.

-- Rednapp got us promoted and brought Charlie to the team (and didn't help the debt levels, either).

There really is no comparison

This. The two don't even remotely compare. Hughes far far worse and indicative of TF being a rabbit in headlights.

Redknapp got us up ..(Biggest budget in Championship history ? )
Ramsey got us relegated but only after Redknapp had walked leaving CR no transfer window..

They were both shocking but I can see Pommy's point that Redknapp was more cynical.

Is this a 'I hated Hughes before you hated Hughes' thread?

Personally I do not think hating Hughes is something one person should take all the credit for.

I detested Hughes as a player for his cynical diving and attempts to get Maddix, Macca and others sent off. And I thought he did a poor job with us. But I don't blame him for bringing Riggs and about ten other staff in. It was what he knew he was required. The mistake was the owners in charging their manager with hiring staff as if he was the managing director. He failed, but in retrospect he was overworked.

Redknapp was a different kettle of boiling piss. A cynical, miserable, malovelant has-been, he took us for a ride from his first day to his fake-knee last.

There is no comparison.

I've never heard Hogan talk

But I did read the Thread title as "Hogan Ephraim Squeaks"

He was brought as a striker but never really suited that position. I did enjoy watching him play under GiGi Di Canio with Rowan Vine as they seemed to have a telepathy. Vine obviously made himself a right prixze 'un at the end of it but I did also feel uneasy seeing Hogan celebrating the title on the pitch with a big lardy-dah in his gob.

Fair play to the fella and to still respect the club after that bozo Candle Face stitched him and Bungle Brother Two Beard hung him out says a lot.

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

Ephraim's technique was superb. I remember watching him and Taarabt warm up before games and seeing unbelievable tekkers.
He done well the first half of the 10/11 season ,him and Taarabt were brilliant on the left.
Did he get an injury? Tommy smith seemed to take over 2nd half of the season.
I never saw him as a prem player but i thought he could definitely play in the championship for a while.
I hate to say it, but another young player that should have done better under our management.

Not on your own mate. That's how I feel. Not so bothered about Hughes for the reasons you say - He fcked up big time but partly down to TF's vanity signings - at least he tried, had professional pride and he did keep us up - interesting what Ephraim says .

Redknapp though for all the reasons you say and more just thinking about him and his attitude makes me angry, the Charlatan cnt. I actually hate him far more than Mullery even.

Always liked Ephraim, I remember him looking great against Charlton when we beat them at the Valley in 2007 and almost being unplayable against Stoke when we beat them 3-0 later that season. Shame things didn't work out for him better.

Didn't Warnock bring in SWP at the same time as Traore, Young, Barton and Ferdinand?

Panic buys, late in the transfer window, after the change of ownership and he had been denied any money all summer, when the decent targets were still available.

Hughes got very lucky when he kept us up - reverting back to roughly the Warnock players at the last, look at the followingt season for a more accurate sense of where we were going - Hughes cared no more than Redknapp, I take the point he cared for his career but by then he was looking for how not to get the blame for what was a hell of a fiasco, that he, Rigg and others got us into, it's sickening to see the acclaim for him now at Stoke but if being charitable you could say he learnt a bit, and maybe he's working for people who don't let him loose like a pyromanioc in a 100 year old building and a box of matches and can of petrol!
As for Hogan, I think he's basically an honest player - but really when he did go elsewhere on loan he didnt tear up much - I think for the most part he was a sub for us and in some bang average sides, I like him and think he's as honest a player as you'll get but he wasnt all that.
The article doesnt say where he is now I noticed.
A shame for him I agree but as Dylan points out he'd have earnt a reasonable salary in his time regardless.
