The footballing media is tonight linking Graziano Pelle with a move to Brockenhurst Football Club after the Saints striker virtually demanded that the Grigg Lane club come and get him in an interview.
Speaking to a reporter from the New Forest Advertiser at the recent press conference ahead of this weeks friendly, when asked what he thought of the New Forest Graziano Pelle replied.
"The New Forest is the most beautiful countryside and it is that beauty which I am missing.
"The Wessex League has had a fall recently, but now it is showing growth again. "
This has been enough for the footballing media to put two and two together and link the Italian with a move to the New Forest's most prominent club Brockenhurst FC.
The Badgers as they are known are believed to be about to launch an audacious move for Pelle when he returns from international duty.
A club spokesman said.
" We will be contacting Ralph Krueger about Pelle pretty soon, as we are in different leagues we are lookig to sign Pelle on a dual registration contract, as we usually play at 3pm on a Saturday and these days Saints rarely play then, we are hoping to sort out a deal where he can play for both Saints and us"
One issue will be perhaps the players wages, but Brock seem to have that in hand.
"He is already on a fair wedge at Southampton, so what we are proposing is that under the dual deal Pelle would still get paid by Saints and would supplement that with a share of the gate receipts from us, Grigg Lane holds 2,000 so at £10 a head we could afford to give Pelle 50% per game, thats ten grand in his sky rocket * (* New Forest rhyming slang) plus other benefits."
How serious Brokenhurst are will become clear in the coming days, but one thing is for sure, they are sure to have competition from teams in other areas that Pelle has expressed a casual admiration for.
In the past month Pelle has mentioned that he likes Disneyworld, thus linking him with a move to the Orlando Magic basketball team, a hairdressers in Bitterne meaning that he could be interested in playing for Bitterne Park Social on a Sunday and he was also spotted driving past Southampton airport which has frequent services to the Channel islands.
This is one of the pitfalls Saints are finding with their recent success, the most spurious comment from one of their players means that they are automatically wanting a move, even of in the next sentence they express undying love for Saints and sign a 5 year contract 30 seconds later.
