Although not a great game it was enjoyable, in spite of some endless head tennis in midfield. I thought Oteh did ok with a couple of good runs and Manning seemed to be feeling his way back into the team. He was one of the main proponents of the head tennis. Hopefully he'll get the ball down more in future games.

It's difficult to know how good or bad the performance was as it's hard to know how strong Pompey were, but given they were missing several first teamers Rs should have done better.

Thought we looked very ordinary for most of the game, we still need help in the back and really not impressed yet in Valery or Targett or Stephens, we were lucky in the end to get a point.Hopefully we will bring someone still as we could still use someone up front as well.At least we were able to grind out a point which we would not have got under Hughes.

Tough match. Pretty fair result. I didn´t see much pressing or gegen-pressing today. McCarthy probably should have saved the shot from Saha (the small diver/winer) and Valery definetely should have put in a tackle to avoid the shot. Versatile JWP scoring for the third match in a row is a good thing.

Looked a bit like a relegation scrap to me. Palace are no push over and Saints did well to get a point with too many Saints players below there best. We really do need a central defender. A frustrated crowd did not help either.

Hodgson brought a very well organised and compact Crystal palace team. Their forwards stayed well back making it even harder for us to penetrate their defensive wall, and always looking like Zaha and Townsend could break out and hurt us, so a very cagey game with little of the high press we've been used to.
The only period of real sustained pressure came in a 10 minute period which resulted in JWP's goal. All three of our centre backs made bad mistakes pondering on the ball but luckily they didn't lead to us conceding, which heightened the need for a new CB to come in. A draw was a fair result.

We need 2 full backs, CB instead of Stephens, 2 AM's and striker today. Some hope eh.

Well that game showed that we are short of good players we still need a good striker and central defender. Jack Stephens is a accident waiting to happen and should have been sent off last night. Lets hope we are busy today in the transfer market. Might be time to start Gunn.

I assume taking Valery off was a sign to the board of RH's frustration at not securing the transfer of a RB target in this window i.e., this kid is not good enough yet.

Very poor all round

Trying to defend a 1-0 lead for 20 minutes is a stupid and futile plan.
