We are gradually running out of CB’s fast-Stephens isn’t a CB, & after his last 2 performances, + away at Wolves, Vestergaard should not be handed a shirt again. What also disgusted me about Vestergaard today was not only did he let us down today he went straight down the tunnel without shaking any hands or coming over to us supporters-he should have been the 1st over to us apologising & begging for forgiveness.

I thought Bednarek was ok though so we’ll have to soldier on with him & 1 of Yoshi or Hoedt until Jan when we surely must buy, or loan, at least 1 top class CB.

Our defence again. Vestergaard rubbish this week. Yoshi rubbish last week. There is nobody left in central defence. what a mess.

It is not looking good, in fact it is looking catastrophically bad. . This defence is Les Reid's lasting legacy. They give point after point away with basic errors. God knows who the least worse two of the CBs are. Bednarek has moved up the pecking order by simply not playing. Perhaps Yoshi or Hoedt next to him. It is awful but otherwise we have to put non-specialists there which would be obscene given that we have 5 CBs. Thanks Les.

We have got to somehow squeeze a few points out of the rest of this month and even if we do the club will have a choice in January : Spend proper money on decent CBs and a forward who can score, or don't spend and we go down. All very sad and unnecessary - every one of us saw what was going on in the defence once Fonte and Van Dick went - but the problem was addressed by buying dross. Did anyone even watch Hoedt and Vestergaard play before they signed them???

Lucky it was only 1-0 with abject Sunday League defending. We haven't got a decent defender at the club. Sell the lot. What has happened to Targett, makes the decision to reject £10m a joke.
Defenders can't defend, strikers can't score, midfield can't create or track back. RH has got a massive job on his hands, where he starts is anyone's guess but I wish him well.

I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that we need to spend £100m on the defence.

In the meantime (as if that will ever happen!), I can’t stand the bloke, but we need a John Terry type defender at the club. Someone who knows when to hoof it into row Z, someone who can rally the troops and add a bit of calmness to the other defenders around him and even score the odd goal.

Ali, in fact the man we need is currently the captain of a team which is 2nd in the French League and plays for a national team which has reached the semi-finals of the European Nations League. How we could do with a captain and central defender of that class right now.

At no point did I fear we would lose this match - until Moss blew the final whistle, and it had sunk in that Vestergaard had gifted Cardiff a goal 15 minutes before the end, a goal we couldn´t manage to equalize within the remaining 15 minutes + added time.

Ok...., when Ings and Obafemi are over their injuries, and Ralph has worked with our defence, we will improve, I´m sure.

Very interesting to see Cedric dropped in order to try to damage control the consequences of our leaky defence. Sad it didn´t pay off. We would have had a clean sheat had it not been for Vestergaards "own goal".

I hope Vestergaards first season will be comparable with Gary Pallister´s first disaster season for Man. U. thirty years ago and the coming seasons ditto comparible with Pallister´s totally improved, classy performances after he had found his feet in the team.
COYS.

It´s too early to sell Vestergaard for a bag of potatoes.
Let´s give the guy a chance. He was in team of the year (in the magazine called something like ´Kicker´) in the Bundes league a couple of years ago.

At the top of RH's long list of jobs must be 'sort defence out'. However, that's easier said than done. One of the major issues is that our CBs don't seem suited to the high press game RH wants to play. Surely in order to be successful playing this way you need at least one quick CB. You need to press as a team, meaning that the CBs will need to push up to avoid creating a massive gap between midfield and defence. We played high press well in the past because we had quick defenders. Currently, I'd guess that Yoshida is by far our quickest CB, and that Vestergaard is our slowest.

I'm no football coach, so someone correct me if I'm talking bobbins. Just seems to me like we might not have the personnel to be able to successfully do high press
